My '93 SSE has had some problems over the past year. I thought I could have had it done by the time the school year started again but we have run into delay after delay on rebuilding it's motor. So I originally set out to find a 'beater' car that would get better gas milage than the 11mpg I was getting borrowing dad's '95 F-150. Looked at another '92 Bonneville SSE that I figured I'd beat around in an part it out once mine was built since it had over 200k miles on it. Then shifted to looking at a Fiero to fool around in for a while. What really triggered my interest in a new Bonneville was a very cruel joke my dad played on me. As Mentioned I have been trying to get the motor for the '93 SSE rebuilt. During the summer I had a full course load as well as working which put me away from home 9:00 till 9:00 except on weekends. So when the engine block was done at the machine shop dad had to pick it up but he didn't pick it up until Friday afternoon. He called me on Tuesday to let me know it was done, but he said it had developed a crack in the block. Needless to say I was super bummed out the rest of the week because this would be the 3rd engine build gone sour. So thats when I started looking for another Bonneville, because I love these cars so much, I couldn't see myself in anything else. I never got a chance to talk to him until Thursday afternoon because of my schedual. I told him I had found one resonably cheap online (Which happens to be the one I got). He asked why I was looking, I got frustrated as I thought it was obvious. He said the crack in the block was a joke. So now I'm more relieved and put the idea of a new car aside. Friday afternoon when I got home, dad decided to carry the joke further by drawing a crack in one of the cyclinders with a sharpie, I knew it was fake but at the time my heart skipped a beat again anyway. It looked believable for about a second. Anyway another month goes by and I realise there is no way I'll have the '93 on the road again for the Fall semester. So here comes the idea of a new car again. I noticed the white '01 SSEi I was looking at before has been reduced from $9,300 to $5,995. I mentioned that I wanted it and I got the ok with my parents that they accepted the idea. I started negotiations with the dealer, come to find out it was "sold" the next day. I would only settle for a 2000-2003 Bonneville SSEi and it had to be white. I went a couple weeks still searching and not finding anything under 12k or reasonably near me, while noticeing this car I was looking at was still listed online. After 2-3 weeks I got irritated and emailed the dealer asking how long it was going to stay listed after being sold. He said the buyer backed out so it's still for sale. That weekend we were heading to Nags Head N.C. for vaccation, the car was located in Rocky Mount N.C. so we schedualed a test drive on our way down. We looked at it, drove it and bought it. It had just under 73k miles on the clock and not in bad shape at all. It had a few problems to tend to and got the price droped a few hundred more accordingly. Then we proceeded on to the beach with the new car. Sorry for the long read, if you actually read it Thanks!
Also I'd like to mention the Pontiac Bonneville Club , hands down the best forum I have ever been apart of. If you own a Bonneville or any 3800 powered vehicle this is an absolute must to look into: http://pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/ .
So here she is, this is Chloe, my 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi.
Couple Pictures on the day I got it, once we arrived at the motel:
This is a work in progress, so a page or two might not have anything on it yet.
