Took advatage of an unusually warm day in March and cleaned the garage.  I will be taking some scrap metal to a recycler that pays.

(3/15/2009)

Found some typical Mopar rust: around the wheelhouse in the LTRR

I sold an assload of parts to a local parts man for $100 flat.  I used this money to buy a drop light, 300 Watt equivelant light bulb. I ordered new gauge faces and AC control decals from Performance Car Graphics. Took the winshield out and began to remove dash.  I took the windsheild out by cutting the gasket with a razor then lubed it up with WD-40.  Removed like plywood, one piece and easy.

I finished taking the dash out, all I needed to do was drop the steering column by taking out 4 bolts on the firewall.  I took the dash pads off and began to sand the paint off.  I unbolted the heater box from the firewall but it won't come out.  I need to read "Project Charger" to learn how.  I removed the hi-beam switch off the floor, took the headliner clips off from around the windshield opening, took the wiper arms off and began to take out the brake pedal.

I sanded alot of the dash and test fitted the radio.  I found alot of dents in the dash which I need to have removed.  I hope to take the dash to a body shop because I don't want to screw it up even more.  I will be taking the speaker to a local car stereo shop to get a repair quote, I'll have to take a picture soon.

(3/31/2009)

I sanded the dash more and removed the dash pad from the frame.  The dash is nearly sanded clean.  I still need to get some hard to reach areas and then the dash will get some rust stopping primer.

(4/23/2009)

I jacked up the front end of the car and put it on jack stands. Tomorrow I'll jack up the rear end and stand it up.

(4/24/2009)

Today I finished putting the car up and I took the brake drums off the rear.  I Painted to left one, painted the dash speaker bracket, primed the oil pan and painted the steering column support.

I'll take pics soon its too rainy here in IL.

(5/1/2009)

I got some more sanding done.  I have made it my goal to get the body stripped as soon as possible and to get the engine out by June.  I got the car back off the jackstands and will be then getting metal cut out and the engine will be rebuilt by AES Racing in Elk Grove Village, IL check them out here: www.aesracing.net

By June when the engine is gone to be rebuilt (or replaced in the worst case) I will rent power washer to strip the paint.  I 'll get the car painted soon after that if plans go accordingly
