This is Eva...My new babyNot many pics yet, but they will be up VERY SOON :D9/25/08:Ok, Well, I just bought a 1988 Porsche 944, and I named her Eva!I bought her for four hundred bucks...sweet deal. She runs. Barely, but she still runs.Honestly I am thinking a possible alternator because when jumpstarted, she ran and idled on her own, but the second I disconnect the jumper leads, she dies :( It could just be a REALLY REALLY bad battery...So, some testing is in order there. She was so cheap because the speedo is broken, the paint is shot although the body is still straight so that makes me happy...and according to the previous owner he says the water pump went out...I'm thinking maybe timing belt might have skipped a tooth or it really is a bad pump. I'll have to take her apart to find out. I want to put fresh belts and a pump in either way so I guess it doesn't matter.I was a little surprised to find that the hood and trunk struts are actually still in great working shape. No hood falling on my head yet! YAY. So...I brought her home, and then got her to run and found all the accesories are in good working order...Things couldn't be better for $400 bucks right?Well my excitement was somewhat short lived... She has expired tags...I had to park her out on the street because I couldn't move a project out of the garage right away. I left her at 6:30 PM to go to school and apparently no more than a half hour later the Orange County Sheriff's had it towed for the registration. FREAKING RIDICULOUS!!! Southern California laws just totally suck s ometimes. I haven't had a chance to register her yet. I literally just brought her home. So tomorrow I've got to get up and figure out how I'm going to Non-Op it and then go get it out of the tow yard before 7 pm. GREAT. That's just wonderful. I was so frustrated and mad I just wanted to destroy everything in my path. *sigh* but I'll just have to figure out what to do9/26/08:Ok...I got her back from the impound today. Freaking $187.50 dollars for one day. WTF. Well she's home and has a temporary operating permit, so she's good to be on the street for awhile.I didn't have time to get a new batt. today, but I experimented and put my friends battery, from her Chrysler that I'm working on, into my Porsche...And she started right up! Guess it may not be the alternator! So, she ran nicely for awhile, but after a bit she started to heat up so I had to shut her off. But this is the cool part! I ACTUALLY GOT TO DRIVE HER!!! YAY!!!Some notes- clunking in right front suspension, powersteering pump screeching, overheating, little slack in the tranny, engine sounds a little rough/boggy, but sounds very nice in the upper RPMsBut, all seems to be in general good shape.10/3/08:Took some crappy I pics, but at least I've got a couple more pics... I took the speedo apart and found the bad Odometer gear. So yeah. I bought a thermostat and I'm gonna be putting that in. Wee.
