This car was built to drive. It went on the 2003 Hot Rod Power Tour. And it has been down to Cruising The Coast Gulf Port, MS twice. I would not be afraid to drive it anywhere.
It is a true street rod that looks like an original car on the outside. It was disassembled in 1991 and went under several modifications. Reassembled in 2000.
It was painted a 1957 color Aztec Copper. The frame was painted, the under body was under coated.
The brake System upgraded to a Hydratech braking system that is a hydraulic assist.
It still is through the floor like the original .
The front end was replaced with a mustang II kit with a power rack and front disk brakes.
The steering wheel was replaced with a late model Column with tilt and Lecarra wheel.
The firewall was smoothed and radiator moved forward and replaced with a truck 454 radiator and two electric fans installed in the old radiator frame.
This was all done to make room for a 1969 Chevy 396 that was bored out .060. The piston and rods were balanced within ½ gram. The crank and balancer were balanced. A Comp Cams street roller cam kit was installed. Part no 11-430-8 CB 280H-10 Valve lift .595 Duration at .50 224 lobe lift .3500 Lobe sep 110.
The heads are oval port and were ported and polished and new bronze guide installed. Stainless steel valves 2.19 Intake 1.88 Ex. Spring and retainers came with Cam kit.
It has a Holly TBI 900 fuel system with Oxygen sensor
It has a 1978 Camaro rear end with a limited slip Detroit Truetrac unit.
The trans is a 700R4 Built by a well known transmision builder "Lamkin Automotive" in Ruston, LA who made the first adapter for bolting a 700R4 to early Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouths some with as much as 550+HP. And also he and his Doughter built the Purple Pacer on Car Domian and in Hot Rod Magazine.
The interior is all in the original pattern but all in light Almond Naugahyde. As you can see from the pictures the dash has been modified for air and gauges.
There is an electric windshield wiper system with intermittent setting.
There is a relay panel under the hood for the air conditioning and electric fans.
All the wiring has been replaced and a painless wire fuse center was installed.
The wheels are Chrome Smoothie with Rally wheel centers with spinners mounted on them.
The black gauges were hard to read while driving at night so I changed them over to white ones. I also modified the original speedometer to white.
