MonteZZ3T-10's 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo        MonteZZ3T-10's 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

This is a photo taken in 1979, when it was still pretty new.  2nd photo taken about 1979 or '80, not many modified 3rd gen. Monte's when they were new.

Taken at 1991 SuperChevShow in Norwalk OH, paired against an original '70 402 4 speed Monte.  My Monte was still mostly stock, 305 and factory Saginaw 4 speed.  He beat me by about a car length.  I knew it was time for a heartier motor at that time, though couldn't afford to do it right so I left it mostly stock 'till I got divorced in '95 and could actually afford (if you know what I mean) the new GM Perf. Crate Motor, the ZZ3 that was the motor to have in the '90s.

The wheels and sport mirrors were the first mod to the car, picture taken while in H.S. in early '80's.  I bought the fatest 60 series 14" tires you could buy at the time, they were Goodyear Wingfoot's 245 60R-14, cost about $100 each, the wheels were Appliance Die Mags, they looked great for the time, the tires were a super soft sticky compound, only lasted about a year, the orignal clutch burned up about the same time.  The  '84 SS was my folks other car they drove from '84 til '88 when my dad traded it for a Buick Regal T - Turbo Car.

My dad's first Corvette in about 1983, had the Gymghana Suspension and a 4 speed.  The other photo is me racing it at the Corvette Drags at Seattle Intl. Raceway in the early '80s.  Should have kept that one.

Dad traded the '81 for an '85 Z51 4+3 stick car, this is a shot of me racing at SIR, it got into the low 14s spinning through most of first gear.  My sister bought one of the first TPI IROCs when they were intoduced, it was the first I ever saw (an '85).  She owned it for about 4 or 5 years,

For a while in the '80's our driveway was a Chevy nut's dream.

Here's a shot of the '78 with mom's '84 SS, picture taken in about '84 or '85.  Dad traded the '85 vette for this '87 red Vette, the SS was swapped for the Buick Turbo.  Dad later traded the '87 vette for an '89 which is still in the family.

My driver in college, 70 Malibu, a very low milage 350 disc brake and power window car, drove it for about 4 years, the Cutlass was a friends car, it was a keeper also.  Should have kept the Malibu, always wanted to make a drag car out of it.

Dad let me take over payments on the Buick for a while after I graduated from college, but I was a fool and let him have it back, he owned it for about 10 years, selling it in about '98 for $11K, these photos were taken about the time he sold it, had 54K miles, would love to have it back.  This is 1 of about 1,430 T's with the GN set up... should have kept it.

My sister's '80 TA, it had the weak T.A. 4.9 non-turbo motor, still kind of cool though.  She traded for the IROC in '85.  This is a photos of an '88 Chev truck I bought after the Chevelle, used it to pull the MC to car shows in the '90s.

This is a highschool photo from the late '70's of my buddy doing a peg leg smoke show with his 70 Ford Torino, all you young guys thought you and Tony Stewart discovered billowing tire smoke, it was alive and well 30 years ago too.  The Dodge was my other college car,... to preserve the Monte.  The '80 Grand Am is a car I bought from a friend in about '96 to pull a ski boat, the original owner bought it back several years later and still has it...  It was also a rare find, about 1,650 made.  You can see this car under 1980 Grand Am.

Yeah man, I wish I was done. I got alot to do yet. Last nite I cut out the lower part of the rear 1/4 panel and I cut out that little strip above the rear side window on the driver side. The other side turned out good so I hope this side does as well. As for me buying one already done, Id never find one! Ill be updating soon. I found a new grill to go with my new headlight bezels. I also have been working on the grand prix dash that Im putting in the Monte. Thanks for keepin up with the progress. Do you got your Monte tucked in for winter yet?

I always have like this body style of Monte Carlo. Great job on keeping up the paint and the interior. Looks good and not worn. I have never seen a 4-speed trans Monte Carlo so they are rare I would say. Check out my Neon sometime. Take care.Creighton
