This is what my baby used to look like...

72_Chevy_Rider's 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Arlington, TX - 2

Since 11/2/08, a blown engine & a meeting with a steel cable highway divider at 70 mph has her lookin' like this...

72_Chevy_Rider's 1973 Chevrolet Impala

It's time for me to update, so I added a few new pics, and some more info.

She's clean, snow white with the cream interior, with a chrome visor out front

Updated the front seat area....used to look like this

 72_Chevy_Rider's 1973 Chevrolet Impala

Took out the CB radio & dash cap cover, added a custom fiberglass console & Kenwood Excelon audio/video setup, and took off the 4 braided wheel covers. This joint does need the seats re-upholstered, due to a couple of rips & some fading/cracking. Here's a pic of the steering wheel, minus the wheel covers, and 20+ years of adhesive & gunk.

....the stock rear bench is near perfect....

You can see the Continental kit & the chrome duals

all 3 bowties on the grille

wire basket rims with new center caps, wrapped in Hankook H714 Whitewalls

They're clean....different than what you usually see....so I think I'll chill on getting any rims, unless I just have to have some elbows.

I said previously that my engine blew up early in Nov...so, $2924.31 later, I've got a brand new 350 & radiator, courtesy of Shreves Engine Rebuilders in St. Louis, Mo.

This is a pic of the old engine....I'll add a pic of my new engine tomorrow, but there's a new Duralast Gold alternator, Duralast starter & battery, along with a new A1 Cardon Power Brake Booster & Master cylinder.

Check out the fresh ass chrome Bowtie breather

72_Chevy_Rider's 1973 Chevrolet Impala

Here's a pic of the console up front...7" Kenwood Excelon KOS-L702 head unit, with two Kenwood Excelon 6 1/2s, and those 2 cables sticking out are for my iPhone and whatever other USB-enabled device I want to plug in (computer/flash drive/camera, etc.) It's a little different, but hey....that's the point, right?

72_Chevy_Rider's 1973 Chevrolet Impala

Here's a pic of the main screen on that joint

(Radio, USB, Video, Nav, iPod, Telephone)

72_Chevy_Rider's 1973 Chevrolet Impala

In addition to this, I've got a Kenwood Excelon handsfree Bluetooth setup that allows me to make/answer calls through my speakers, and has a mic mounted on the dash. The actual head unit is a Kenwood Excelon KOS-V1000 A/V controller, that sends the signal to the LCD screen pictured above, and also acts as an amplifier...beautifully simple. Also...no, I don't have a CD player/changer...no need....I plug a flash drive into my console & ride out....right now, I've got one that I loaded 23 albums on, so I've got a mix....rap, R&B, alternative, ya know.

You see....jammin' on that Z-Ro & Trae...ABN all day!

72_Chevy_Rider's 1973 Chevrolet Impala

Another view of that console...not too big, not too small...fits just right.

72_Chevy_Rider's 1973 Chevrolet Impala

The audio folk fabricated a new rear deck...ain't the prettiest thing, but it's going to get padded & wrapped when I get the seats redone. Oh...and there are two Kenwood Excelon 6x9s, plus tweeters back there too. Not a great pic of it, but I'll put a better one up tomorrow.

72_Chevy_Rider's 1973 Chevrolet Impala

I've got a couple other things on deck that'll be done sometime soon....

Updates that are done, but not pictured: New Edelbrock 600 cfm carburetor, New caramel brown carpet, chrome window cranks, rebuilt transmission, new bushings/bearings/transmission mount, new vacuum lines.

Future mods: This month....Straightening & Repainting both rear quarter panels, new windshield, new dash cap, new door window felts, new white headliner, new weatherstripping on the doors/trunk/roof rails. Start of next year...re-chroming the header panel/headlight bezels/sun visor, new front & rear bumper fillers, re-wiring this joker so that all my lights (head & tail lights, dummy lights, fog lights) work properly...no shorts.

I'm always looking to chop it up with like minded folk, so hit me up if you feel like talkin'. I'm open to suggestions and any comments....so if you have any advice, feel free to PM or leave a message in my guestbook....
