There is a new addition to the Top Fuel Performance family. The wife wanted a project vehicle she could work on and has always loved these wagons, so she bought one. It is definitely a project, but it's a running driver that she can work on as she enjoys the car.
Here is a little info on the car. It is a 1964 Chevy II 400 series wagon. It has a 194 cu.in. 6 cylinder engine and a 3 speed Saginaw manual transmission. The rearend is an 8.2" unit with 3.36 gears and an open differential. The car has a couple of interesting options. It is one of only 7,056 equipped with factory air conditioning. It also has factory tinted windows all the way around.
Since she bought it, the front and rear suspensions have been rebuilt and the 3 speed manual Saginaw transmission has been replaced by a 4 speed Saginaw. I rebuilt the transmission for her, but she has been doing a lot of the work on the car herself. Along with the new transmission, both of us worked on the installation of a new flywheel and clutch kit.
In July we took the car on the Power Cruise to Somerset Kentucky for the monthly Somernites Cruise. I highly suggest the Somernites Cruise to anyone who wants to enjoy a cool laid back atmosphere and some great cars. It's well worth the trip.
Here are a couple of pics of the wagon
