HERBIE THE LOVE BUG!!!

(Go to the bottom of this page to read the story about Herbie!!)
Here's what my car looked like before the restoration and "Herbification". This was taken during our Senior Year for Homecoming 2006.
Here I am with my Herbie during last summer.
And here is my friend, Meg, with my car. Yeah, since she thinks that Herbie is cute, and since she's pretty cute herself, I figured it couldn't hurt to have the two get their picture taken together! :D
Here, Herbie is nice and polished, and I'm dressed up to take Meg on a dress up date. That was so much fun!! :) You may wonder why I'm dressed in a Navy uniform. I was a Midshipman (or Cadet) at the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. The school is located in Great Neck on Long Island. I didn't get to come very often to see my friends; my family; or Herbie very often. But now that I've come home to stay, it's always so much fun when I GET TO GO CRUISIN' WITH MY MEG, FAMILY, AND FRIENDS IN HERBIE!!!!!
Here we are all together. Gosh, SHE WAS LOOKIN' MIGHTY FINE THAT NIGHT, WASN'T SHE?! :D
This is pretty much what I want my car to look like in the end.
My Herbie's Story
This is my Herbie. He's a sweet ride!! I got him in 2005. Back then, he was a tan bug with all orginal parts, and only 43,000 miles on it. Now, Herbie got a new paint job, stripes, numbers, glasspack exhaust, fog lights, Grant Racing steering wheel, chrome wheels, and new tires. Herbie has a 1600cc (1.6L) engine, with single port heads and a single Solex 30 PICT-3 Carb. The engine has been upgraded with a Bosch alternator, Bosch 009 Centrifugal Advance Distributor, Bosch Blue Coil ignition, an aftermarket air filter from Mid America Motorworks, and a Eurosport Glasspack Exhaust also from Mid America Motorworks. I now have a pretty sweet sound system in there, and I'll tell you what! This car will thump hard!! Last sound competition this car was in, it cranked out 139 decibels!! This car has been an awesome little car to have and drive. As of late, it has been very reliable, and I'll never sell it. The car and I have been through a lot together, so it definitely has sentimental value to me. The original Herbie was a 1963 model used in the 1969 movie, "The Love Bug." No, I didn't decide to make my Herbie after watching the latest Herbie movie, "Herbie Fully Loaded," and I most certainly didn't make my car into a Herbie tribute because I'm a fan of Lindsay Lohan!! I was a Herbie fan long before she came into the picture. I own all four of the original Herbie movies, (The Love Bug-1969, Herbie Rides Again-1974, Herbie goes to Monte Carlo-1977, and Herbie goes Bananas-1980). I also do own Herbie Fully Loaded movie, but my favorite Herbie movies will always remain to be the originals because the original Herbie was the one I had grown up with and come to love!! My Herbie is dedicated to the Herbie in the original movies, so I do not plan on making major changes to the look of my Herbie, like they did to the one in Fully Loaded. I will mostly keep the stock look like those in the original Herbie movies (with minor changes, like the wider chrome wheels and eye lids). I do want to put a 2332cc (2.3L) in Herbie one day, along with a performance transmission from GEX, among other things. The car will one day have super performance, but with the stock look that Herbie always had before. The bottom-most pic of Herbie, (the Herbie with the wider wheels and the bumpers with over riders) shows what I basically want to make my car look like one day. The young lady you see in some of these pictures is my friend, Meg. She is one of the best friends (and former girlfriend) that I have ever had. Lucky for me, she and all my other friends love my car, and they all want me to keep it forever, and to do all the things I plan on doing to him eventually. Check out all the photos I have of Herbie!! I think you'll enjoy all of them!! HOPE YOU ENJOY HERBIE AND HIS PAGE!!
