2009 Rebuild of My 1966 Impala Convertible

Jen and I at the 2009 Greenwood Car Show

I made a few last minute changes to the look on the car's engine bay.  I decided to go with painted valve covers and a black powder coated air cleaner with raised "Chevrolet" lettering.  It was a rush once again to get the car ready for Greenwood just as it was in 2006 when I did the exterior of the car.

Jen and I had a great time at the show and both of our cars were looking great.

Update May 25th 2009

All of the big issues have been worked out and now its on the the long list of little things I still need to do before the Greenwood Car Show in Seattle on June 27th.  Here are some pictures from Memorial Day weekend.  It is so nice to have this car back on the road after all the work that has gone into it.

Update May 11th 2009

There are still some issues to work out but we fired the new 383 Stroker for the first time on Thursday May 7th.  Check out these videos of the first time it fired up and our first road test.

A big thanks to Jen and the guys at Autosport Seattle for all the hard work that went into making this project come to life.

It feels so good to have this car back on the road after 7 months of being in pieces.

Update Early May 2009

I took a 5 day weekend the first week of May and got busy on the final stage of this project.  The badass 383 Stroker Jen I have been building and the rebuilt turbo 350 trans made it home on Friday.  I sprayed the body color where needed and set the motor in place on Saturday.  I then spent the rest of the weekend going to a ton of parts stores and starting to get everything hooked up.  I can't wait to get this car back on the road and enjoy the sun!

Update April 2009

Things are finally going back together and I can't tell you how happy I am to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  The front disc brake conversion is complete and I'm ready to short block the motor.  My baby is going to be back on the road soon and I'm feeling way better about this project than I did a month ago.

Update March 2009

Front end rebuild.

This project has gotten a little out of hand but I’m enjoying every minute of it!  It started as a simple few step process:   Pull the motor, clean the engine and replace the gaskets, paint the block and put it back together.  Now I’m rebuilding the entire front end.  New suspension, complete power disc brake conversion, a burly 383 stroker engine rebuild and so much more!

Wow, sweet Impala! I've been stoked to be a part of this project. I'm sure the next phase will be just as fun as the last!
