NorCalz28's 1989 Chevrolet Camaro

UPDATE: 1/31/09

HOLY SHIT a lot has happened since the last time I posted anything. I have tons of pics to add and lots of info to share. The ZZZ crate engine with AFR 180cc heads and Comp XFE 218/224 cam are in the car, along with the Accel/Lingenfelter ported TPI. Waiting on the injectors and some other misc to arrive so that I can finish evertything up and hopefully start this thing for the first time in 3 years!

UPDATE: 9/13/07

The cam is in, the heads are on, just waiting for some funds so I can buy the comp pro magnum roller rockers and 24lb injectors so I can get the engine all sealed up. Installed the becool radiator, and the dual fans are almost ready for install. Going to be working on getting the old block out this month and making the final preparations for the new powerplant. Stay tuned for installed pics in the next month or so.

UPDATE: 7/23/07

WOW, a year and a half since my last update. Time does fly when you have a full-time job and a list of other things to take care of!
Anyway, I unexpectedly purchased the foundation for my powerplant the other day. I found a brand new ZZ3 crate motor for a steal, and snapped it up. Trying to sell off the aluminum heads and intake to recoup some of the money I spent.
My AFR 180cc heads will top this motor, along with a CompCams XFI268HR13 camshaft. The engine is currently apart awaiting the new gaskets for the heads and the cam install. I have beadblasted and painted my Lingenfelter ported TPI setup which should help the motor breath above the 5000rpm mark. Pictures of the motor in it's carious stages will be up soon.

On another note, the interior is back in the car, with the exception of the headliner and rear cargo area trim. I decided to switch back to a non-overhead console headliner setup and thus sold my modified headliner. Now I am currently without one, but no biggie. Still waiting to purchase some new t-top weatherstripping so I can seal up the roof.

Keep checking back for more updates, I should be updating the site regularly now that I have some new parts to work on.

UPDATE: 2/1/06
The car has been home for about a month now. She's sporting a fresh coat of BMW code 300 Alpine White. Currently the top end is off the motor for a cam install. I had decided to clean up under the hood to enhance her overall appearance by replacing most of the old wiring, and doing away with some things I will no longer need (i.e. A/C and so on). I have added some pics of the progress. Please check below for the appropriate link to which page the new photos can be found on. Keep checking back for more updates. Hoping to have the car road worthy by the beginning of summer. But I still have alot of work to do, including the C4 front brake installand some other goodies.

Update: 10/24/05
Alot has been going on in the past 6 months. Shes been ripped up and torn apart. Putting the finishing touches on the body work this week and next. She should be slated for her coat of BMW Alpine White sometime in early November. After that it's back home for a while, during which time I will put her back together piece by piece. Might go through and completely dynamat her while I get the chance. Also new t-top weatherstriping is in order along with a new, untinted back hatch glass. Future plans are going to call for dark tin all around and slight tint to the windshield since I am not going to be driving her much anymore. Also a motor is in the works but this won't likely become a reality until at least 2007. Keep checking back for more updates and pics as they become available.

Update: 4/10/05
Well the headers are on, along with the 3" Force II catback and catco cat. Chased a few exhaust leaks in the system for a few days but she seems to be running pretty strong right now. The new energy suspension motor mounts really helped out. The motor sits nice and doesn't shudder like she used to from the cracked rubber stockers. The SLP runners are also on and I definitely noticed a little less low end torque. Haven't really got on her yet, so I have yet to see how the upper rpms feel. All and all things are looking good right now. Might throw some 24lb injectors on there this summer and maybe an afpr to get the tune dead-on. Check back for times, might take her to the track this season!!! Pics of the headers should be up on the performance page tomorrow.

Update: 3/23/05
The exhaust came off today to make way for the JetHot Hedman's and 3" Flowmaster Force II system. Replace the motor mounts with energy suspension pieces while everything was out. Also going on, SLP runners, Accel 8.8 wires, and a few other goodies. Check back for picks of the header install.

UPDATE: 10/29/04
UPDATE!!!The transmission was replaced with a "Pro-Built" auto 700R4 and a vigilante 2400 stall converter.
relocation brackets are ready for install, along with a poly torque arm bushing. So far, EVERYTHING from the trans back is brand new on this car. Next year will see some tweaks to the motor, possibly even a replacement motor, something in the 383 range. Check back fro more progress and updated track times as they become available.
