1996 Custom Impala SS
I’m selling my 1996 Chevy Impala SS. It has 110K miles on it. Very clean engine and runs very strong. This car rides like a dream. It simply floats down the highway effortlessly. But don’t be mistaken about how well it glides because it can take turns at a pretty good speed with virtually no body roll thanks to the Hotchkis Sport Suspension kit on it. I have put many little tuners to shame taking the off and on-ramps on highways!! I love making them look stupid!!
The engine is a LT1 350 V8. It has a Hypertech Chip installed on it and comes with the programmer for it as well. Also there is a cold-air induction kit installed on it, as you can see from the pictures. The sound of the exhaust is very attention getting with the Flowmaster Exhaust system on it and it is minus the cats if I remember right. From the factory this car put out around 270hp, I’m not really sure but I believe with those three items installed, it might be pushing near 290-300hp at this point. I can say this, when you need it to move, it moves! I feel that it moves quite well for being a respective B-body, as heavy as they are.
The windows have all been redone with new Nylon peices, so there is no sagging and or jamming of them when the windows are open or closed. This an extremely common problem with these cars and was done in July of this year. The original interior was not much to be desired and so it has been almost completely redone to black and gray. I left parts of the interior the original gray because it thought that would be a nice contrast to the black. Seats are black with light gray suede leather inserts (as seen in the picture). All areas where there was gray carpet was replaced with black and that goes for the rear deck, console, and door panels. I definitely want to point out that the front seats had been stripped down to the frames and recushioned and are nice and stiff as if you are sitting in a Trans Am bucket seat while still being very comfortable. Back seats weren't touched because they were still very comfortable. There was a VERY nice large power sunroof installed on it as well. This sunroof has some nice features about it. It will lift up off the roof at different levels and also tucks into the roof when it is at full-open. When you turn of the car the sunroof will close automatically so that you don’t forget it’s open. The open and close button is a “One-Touch” open and close feature. So that way you don’t have to hold the button down in order for it to open or close completely. It is VERY nice!
The front rims are 20x8.5 and rear are 20x9. They are Centerline Wheels the Millennium Series - Edge and were $550 each and have Nitto tires on them. I just purchased Brand New centercaps for them because the chrome was starting to chip. Chrome apparently doesn't like to stick to aluminum very much. This car lived most of its life in San Francisco, California and had been brought to Michigan by the gentleman I bought it from. It was moved there 4 years ago and had the car in storage the whole time except to bring it out on nice days. This Impala was custom painted about 7 years ago and has held up very well for its age. I want to point out that the Impala logo that is typically located on the back pillar as well as the "Impala SS" wording that by factory a embossed decal located on the rear quarter were removed and custom painted on (as seen in picture). They have been covered with layers and layers of clear coat and done very well! You can’t even feel them in the paint when you run your fingers across them. I am a very picky person but I would give the paint a very stong high 8 out of 10. Since the interior is new I give it a 11 out of 10.
I am not a huge stereo buff but it does have a very nice Alpine system with a Rockford Amp and Rockford 12" Sub. It’s very loud with a crisp sound. This car is not a show car but it is very close to it. I guarantee that almost everyone that notices it will darn near snap their necks to look again! Honestly, I've never personally seen one better.
