Thanks for checking out my Mustang SVO! The picture above is how it looked like when I first got it. Which was on September 1st. I wasn't really looking for another Mustang, I was just bored and started randomly browsing around when I saw this 1984 Mustang SVO. The paint was all faded and there was only a little bit of rust on the rear left fender that the past owner spray painted to cover it.. It came all the way from the south, around Atlanta Georgia which is why it had no rust. But I decided to buy it! Since I'm in college right now getting my associates in different areas of Automotive, I thought this would be an awesome Project car. Since I already finished my 1991 LX 2.3, besides it needing some new wheels. Hopefully by spring it will be finished from inside and outside! Keep stopping by for more updates.

I feel so thankfull to have owning two Mustangs which I never thought I would own even one until I was much older when I would finally be making some good money from my career. It wasn't the case though when I just happen to have enough money for my first one being my 1991 LX 2.3l. I wanted more power out of it therefore now I got my SVO instead!

Just like almost the majority of the cars on Car Domain, this is a work in proggress.

Here is some pictures from how it first look like the first couple of days in my driveway.

(09/01/08) Was when I went to go get my SVO from the past owner! Immeidiately I began ordering parts.

As you can see the paint was really faded and the interior needs some cleaning. It has a replacement hatchback from a Mustang LX. The past owner replaced it possibly because it was worn out or cracked. Because of this now it has the LX badge on the rear decklid. Don't let it fool you! I will be removing it and saving it to put on the front fender for my 1991 LX as an extra emblem. In its place will be going the original "Mustang SVO" emblems. Also the bi-wing isn't attached yet. I need to paint it black then will bolt it on.

The Progress:

(10/10/08)

First coat of paint! Egh, it wasn't too good I had a couple of misses.. I'm no expert though, this is my first paint job :D. Also metalic paint isn't the easiest to apply. Another coat or so should clear up any of my misses.

(10/17/08) I got the new Exhaust installed! Flowmaster 40 series 3'in inlet, 2.5'in outlet. Followed by the original 2.25 in tail pipe with dual chrome outlet tips. Check out the exhaust clip below.

Here it is, the exhaust clip.

(10/18/08) I found out that I was losing coolant so after some diagnosing I found out it was a bad head gasket which coolant was leaking in to.

(10/20/08) The clutch cable snapped! Don't know how. It was my dad who broke it! So he had to pay for it.

Some Interior Pics

More to come!

(10/21/08) My SVO was towed to the shop to get the clutch replaced and replace the head gasket. I didn't have time to do this work myself with work and school on my schedule.

(10/23/08) Went to go pick it up from the shop! The coolant leak was not because of a bad head gasket but because of a worn out hose. Hopefully that was the problem.

(10/26/08) I had enough time to finally paint the bi-wing. I can't wait to bolt it on! Also I painted the hatch wing, both wings are a glossy black now. Pics coming soon.

FRESH PAINT LOOK AT THAT SHINE!!!

I did a better job this time applying the paint to the rear fender and wings!!

Just 2 sneak peak shots of the BEFORE and AFTER.

(10/28/08) The original black trim paint came in and I painted the trim all around from the front to the back.

(10/29/08) Someone broke my left rear taillight, I dont know who and how it happend. It only had a small hole to begin with then it just broke. You can see from the old/new lense pics. $100 just to replace the lense.

Also I had to replace the OLD looking hood insulation. It was falling appart on my engine. I found an original new hood insulation for about 30 bucks. It made my engine look a whole lot cleaner.

(10/30/08) I prepped the "hatch" in order to sand and paint. The hatch was a replacement from an LX so it had the "LX" emblem on there. I removed it and put it aside so later I can place it on the front fender of my 91 LX. Also the replacement hatch wasn't all that better from the past one because this one had some rust around the edges and had to be removed.

The LX badge finally off as you can see. Sanded, primed, and painted. Here it is now! Now for the "Mustang SVO" Emblems to go on it once paint is dry and good to go!

(10/31/08) I painted the front bumper with metalic blue paint.

(11/1/08) Finally painted the faded window frame black.

(11/03/08)  Took it to school to get it checked out and found out that my alternator started to smoke and the pulley heated up so much, that the belt was slipping. Hopefully will fix it SOON!

(11/04/08) Taillights, parking lights, and dash lights dont work!!! Can't drive it at night till its fixed now. Guess I'll just work on the interior and exterior until I find what is wrong with the engines electrical problems.

(11/05/08) Custom blue rug dash cover came in today to match with the paint! Put it to on the dash. Looks real nice, pics to come!

(11/09/08) I found the fuse block finally and checked all the fuses with my test light. Glow and behold the dash fuse light wasn't working.

(11/16/08) Removed the alternator, drive belts, and negative terminal cable. I'll be getting the alternator checked tomorrow at school, hopefully I won't need a new one.. Also removed the negative terminal cable and got a new one which I have to replace its fusible link to the fender. The drive belt was old and loose. It needs two new ones and it came with only one for some reason when I bought it.

(11/20/08) MEH! I tested the alternator and it turns out that it is drawing too much current!! I need to get it replaced now but I lose the core charge of $60 since it was a custom fitted alternator. The new one that I will buy for $200 will need to be custom fitted as well. I won't be driving it anytime soon thats for sure =[

Currently taking a break, more updates to come in 2009! Hopefull get it up and running with its new alternator, and new headlight swicth. Can't wait for spring!

More pics to come!

All the work was done by myself and it was done inside my garage. I would take it out to take some pictures then it would go back in.

I just need to paint the rear bumper!!! But other than that its looking good so far right? Thanks for looking come again! More to come, I appreciate any comments and will return the favor!!
