Story behind the car:So I was the second owner of this great american machine. I bought this car in 2006 from the original owner that was 94 at the time and sold it in FEB12. It was sitting in a garage for two years prior to my sister (who was neighbors with the lady) hearing it was for sale. When I came to look into it I learned the car had been wrecked by the lady when she was 92, she had run off the road and up-rooted a stop sign due to her catarax(sp?) in one of her eyes. So for a grand and a carburetor kit i took it home with me. The car was going to be a money maker (I bought it for 1k but i knew i could roll it down the road with a for sale sign and every 24'' rim roller would be all over it)When i got it back to my place (and after the "refreshing stage" of an oil change, topping off fluids, making sure the brakes were safe, etc.) i decided to open it up on the road, so when i had at last floored the pedal of a 6.4L v-8 i was not expecting what I got, it SLUGGED to gain speed, downshifted fine and all and didn't backfire, but was slow as mollasses in winter....So i told my dad about it and he set to investigate one day while i was at school... turns out the timing is to be set at 6deg. BTC, not 10 ATC! After he told me that and put a decent set of spark plug wires on it we hit the road after school... it ran a little smoother, and quieter, but when you floored it you felt like you were in a plane taking off. This is where i fell in love with the car.So after a little love on my end through the past two years (and selling of a cadillac i bought for 200 bucks) I found the time/money to start the restoration process.
