This Is my 1988 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat, My dad bought this truck brand new in 1988. When he first bought it, it had 27 miles on it, now it has 198,000. it still has the bone-stock 302 and the manual 5 speed transmission. in 198,000 miles the only major work done was the clutch at about 180,00. the truck is a 1/2 ton but has a 3/4 ton rearend, and has overload leaf springs.

in 19 years this truck has only broken down once. The ignition module went out in the distributor. since we replaced that part my gas mileage has been around 17mpg!

No major motor work has been done, just the normal oil changes, coolant flush, etc. the only trouble we had was trying to find the correct starter, we tried about 20 and it just ate them up. original altenator. We did have to replace the radiator. about a year after my dad bought the truck the air cond. went out he paid 230 bucks to get it fixed and about 6 months later it went out again. and we just never bothered with it.

The interior is in reletively good shape but we have had some problems with the window motors. but my dad being a mechanical engineer, re-engineered them(some how idk). And the glove box broke, but we got it replaced. And yes, factory AM/FM radio, no cassette. Every thing works correctly on this truck, EXCEPT the windshield wipers if you have them on high and you turn they STOP!! scary! i belive it is the delay box but i dont usually drive in the rain. so HA.
