dpstang's 1992 Ford Mustang

Suspension
dpstang's 1992 Ford MustangFront Suspension:I added a strut tower brace from HPM.It makes a large improvement for the 2.3. I am able to take turns much tighter and faster, and the over all ride has improved.

I have added a stock 5.0 front sway bar. It is 1 5/16" in diameter. It works well with all of my other upgrades.dpstang's 1992 Ford Mustangdpstang's 1992 Ford Mustang
You can see here the stock front sway bar that's about 1" in diameter. It was easy to remove and I just reused the stock brackets and the bushings that came with the new front sway bar.
I was hoping to put in polyurethane bushings for the end links and mounting bushings, but the local Mustang shop did not get them in before I left for break.

dpstang's 1992 Ford Mustang Well I got a chance to get the new poly bushings for the front sway bar and new end links. The stock endlinks are much smaller and the bushings are shot. The old swaybar bushings are shot too. They have caused the paint to be worn down to the metal on the bar. I will have to repaint it in order to prevent the bar from wearing out the new bushings.

I picked up an Kenny Brown four point G-Load brace Sat. at Dyno Day.
Update: Due to the fact that the 91-93 2.3s came with a Al oil pan that sits to low and to far back the G-load brace will not fit. So I had to take it back to CP.

dpstang's 1992 Ford MustangRear Suspension:This is a new rear sway bar from Steeda. Its 1" in diameter and said to be %25 stronger than the stock 5.0 sway bar. This should be a huge improvement over the stock suspension which does not have a sway bar.
As you can see in comparison the new rear sway bar is the same size as the old front stock sway bar. It is pathetic that the front sway bar is so small. The new rear sway bar makes such a huge difference in the way that the car handles. The car threw the curves is much flatter and more responsive.

Full Length Subframes
These Subframes were put on by Custom Performance of Charlotte, NC. They are steel boxed tubed full length frames that were welded into place.

Engine:
I have added a K&N filter and added a custom CAI.I have also added a JET performance chip but I have not notice any change. For the exhaust I have added a single 40 Flowmaster, it gives the 2.3 a little more rumble. I have bought a set of 40 series 2 chambered Flows in order to make a dual exhaust set up for my car. I am going to use a set of stock pipes from my friends 5.0.
dpstang's 1992 Ford MustangI have recently acquired a tubular Ranger header. It will make a big improvement over the cast stock manifold. There is a 20lbs difference between the two headers, the Ranger weighing 6lbs and the stock 26lbs. The Ranger header is a better improvement in flow and design. There should be a few hp gained form this mod but mainly torque.

dpstang's 1992 Ford MustangHere is the Ranger header installed. It has made a nice improvement in low end torque and power, and it also added a nice tone to the exhaust. I had to have the EGR bung welded shut because the one for the Mustang does not match. I also had to make a plate to block the EGR return line that feeds the upper intake. I just used some sheet metal to make a plate, so I could plug the vacuum line back in so the Check Engine light would cut off.

Brakes

I have bought 5.0 front spindles, rotors and calipers. This is a large improvemnet over the stock 2.3's brakes. The 2.3s came with 10" rotors and the 5.0s came with 11". I hope to have these on soon.

To help in the performance of the brakes I got a set of SS brake lines from Maximum Motorsports.
