<<< Engine & turbo re-build pictures below >>>
First things first: from personal experience if you own a turbo petrol engine vehicle and you wish to wind up the boost or put on a larger turbo there are a few things you MUST know about the operation of your engine i.e:
Current compression ratios between cylinders - use a compression gauge
Current condition of your fuel pump, base fuel pressure and injector size and condition
How much extra fuel your mods will need and where throughout the rev range it will be needed
Air/Fuel ratios at all points in the rev and load range of your engine - i.e. AFR meter
Knock levels at idle, mid and WOT (wide open throttle) - i.e. knock monitoring gauge
Accurate boost level metering - i.e. boost gauge
Exhaust gas temperatures (Note: this is not possible in some vehicles) - i.e. EGT gauge
If you crank up your boost without taking all these factors into consideration and monitoring them you are begging for trouble and money will flow out of your pockets like water and so will the tears from your eyes - it's only a matter of time before something will let go and most likely KNOCK caused it to happen!

The engine now purrrs like a very loud kitten.

Status: currently running in engine, 90kms travelled so far in vehicle with approx 55mins run time on engine (including start up time.)

Re-build cost: $7.3K so far (not too bad for top of the line replacement forged parts, flywheel & clutch, everything else and also machine shop labour costs) this is not including my labour costs to remove, re-assemble and re-install engine/gearbox.
