Aloha from Hawaii!!
This is my 1978 Fleetwood Brougham d’Elegance. It's in mint condition. I bought it from a couple who was selling it for the ladies 92-year-old Italian Mother in Las Vegas. And I'm proud to say I'm the second and last owner of this vehicle.
I bought it at the beginning of 2007, mid January. The couple told me it’s been garage-kept for over 20 years, and by the dust on the paint/body it looked like at least 10 yrs! I couldn’t tell, but I believed them, it was very dusty, pile up of dust!
Now if you ever wondered where they kept Mafia Cadillac’s that you've seen in the movies, wonder know more!! I visited one of those places when I found my car on craigslist. Only 1 owner and that was the 92 yr old ladies dead husband. The couple told me he was under witness protection when he died! From how they told me, the condition of the car and them being Italian and them selling super cheap, I put 2 and 2 together and came to the conclusion: This car has a story.
Its only been driven for 48,000 miles and not a dent on it. The Original title was from the first dealership in Las Vegas: Cashman Las Vegas. And I bought it at the right time in my life. I was moving back to Hawaii in a few months and didn’t even know it, but I brought her back with me to the Island.
My dad had a '74 DeVille and that motivated me to pick this up. I think it runs in my Family to have an American Luxury car that is not only comfortable and is great as the look itself, but to know that my car was an actual Mafia car, I feel a presence when I drive my Cadillac, everytime.
By the looks of it the Cadillac is an original all around. The paint is original with no dents, rust, dings, or anything that could throw you off from its beauty as a whole. The 8-track player still works as well. The original hubcaps and interior are immaculate, and it rides like a Cadillac should ride. I upgraded the sound system and threw in a Viper remote start alarm. I have an all Alpine system which is hidden, you couldn’t tell this Caddy has the amount of Sound system in it unless you popped the trunk or opened the Glove Compartment. I added the 3 inch white wall tires from Diamond Back Classics as soon as I got her back home to Hawaii. I even changed the License plate to Mic3.
Future plans for my 78’ are to add a center console with the Alpine IVA-W505 2 DIN Mobile Multimedia Station, and 3 Kicker Solo X’s. (I Just put in the Center Console, before I left for Music tour in Manila, BUT I'll put pictures up when i get back to Hawaii! (working on getting the Trunk Fitted up as well.. Im thinking after I depbate if I should bag it or not.. what do you think?? I really want to preserve this vehicle as a whole but i also would like to give it an all new Airbag suspension.. need sum suggestions?!)
I recently bought a 1990 Brougham this April 2009.(Sold to DJ Wiz AUG2009, Honolulu, Hawaii) Looks almost like my 78 but with 5% tint and the bottom trim is Black. Being that I have had this 78 Fleetwood Brougham d’Elegance for some 2 years now, I wanted to get another Caddy and be able to play with it. Future plans for this 90’ Caddy is to powder coat all chrome parts black and new black paint w/ 3coats of clear, 22” Black Rims, redo the white vinyl top and change to black vinyl and lastly add a complete sound system by Infinity. This should be complete by end of this summer.
I love this Cadillac’s like the women I've loved, but I love my 78 Caddy more!
