This 1971 datsun belongs to bryan , a guy I met through craigslist and a fellow CarDomain member.

I was dying to see what it looked like under the hood when it first got here ...
My initial thoughts upon opening the hood ...
Oh no, sigh ... here we go again ... lmao .

( I truly am sick of cars yet I keep doing this ... Hmmm .)

Anyways, after 2 days worth of powerwashing the engine compartment, it was now time to start assembly...

What it looked like when I recieved it ...

Next step, take down and paint the engine as well as prep the compartment ...
Due to an insane amount of orange overspray from whom ever painted this beast, I decided to take the headlights and everything completely off and start from square 1.
I chose a semi-gloss black for the engine compartment to make sure the engine would stand out and not blend into the engine compartment.

He had previously purchased an intake and carb that he wanted installed, as well as a crane ignition coil.
This required a custom exhaust as well as plugs/ wires.
This distributor will recieve a good "curve"/ modification to make sure the timing matches the engine speed (rev's).
I also went through the whole engine compartment and redid the vehicle wiring to make sure this would all work out right.

The lone import in your profile gets little love, just 2 1/2 stars, what up with that, ah well. Hopefully biz is good on your end. The ride is running pretty good after I got Jeff @ Advanced Distributors in Minnesota to re-curve the dizzy. An MG guy, but he knew exactly what needed to be done per my intake/carb setup. He works magic on distributors I guess, tons of testimonial praise and pretty inexpensive too. He advised setting at approx 17 BDTC give or take a couple degrees. I also changed the sparks plugs to copper cored NGK's that are for elec ignition, so wider gap. I was advised that platinum plugs are known to foul easily in the L series Datsun/Engines, just not the plug of choice and the NGK's are. Car still needs to be fine tuned probably. On another note, I've already had it out once with my witch of a neighbor regarding the exhaust and I don't blame her, it is loud as hell, really, even for me, too loud. Anyways, car is still evolving, you know the deal. Just thought I'd share, take care.

Wow! Amazing restoration on your 510! Super clean engine compartment! That twin carb conversion should promote spirited driving! Great job!
