capricechild's 1960 Ford Thunderbird

capricechild's 1960 Ford Thunderbird 352 v8 is bad ass- fun to work on and easy! you should get one.
History- My father grew up in Torrance, CA. where his next door neighbor purchased a somewhat still new 1960 bird around '65-'67. Dad thought it looked so cool and "old school"as most cars started to seriously change in that era. It was and is the last real square bird. Decades later- I'm born, move back to Cali, find neighbors widow selling bird..as she wants to "keep it in the family" havin no children of her own, i get a SWEET deal.. 48,000 miles(I think this has gone over once- only goes to 99,999) and a very shaded owner history- Turns out the car was a prop-car for shows like Perry Mason and other early-era T.V. shows. Traced to a hollywood prop-lot. Before that, she was brand new. So after hollywood took its toll on her, two owners to me. She was in fair- good org. condition when running till '06 when the water pump quit? i hope, well it made some bad noises and having no money I parked it till NOW.- 8/2008 tried to start and the poor old Holley started spraying everywhere, so rebuild carb...

Specs:
352 v-8 INTERCEPTER-(confused? back then it meant stock- NOT POLICE)ALL org. even two bias tires from pre-'70(rotting bastards)
Rear windows bolted shut-motors removed- thanks Hollywood. grrr.-so only drivers window works as circut is not complete for passngr.
both drivers and passngr. windows need replace-(common for birds)
looking for wheels- newer GT 'stang wheels maybe-5 /4.5 SIZE

INTERIOR; needs some south of the border help.all cosmetics are present-chrome stuff and thingys.but small tears in seats and insulation has DEAD-rotted, spilling nasty rotted orange foam/sand everywhere.Very messey!
BODY; has five or six small rust spots- due to pacific ocean salty breeze- mostly on hood from rock ding/damage. All chrome thingys on body were removed and stored in trunk for paint in '85. Theres bondo on every corner and even to raise the fender to match hood.. wow shitty. But with no dents, a few small door dings, I'm not repainting till I'm done with everything else..Shes a pretty sky blue anyways.

9/2008- rebuilt carb- tried starting -carb flooded- ajust needles and such- try starting again- I think starter might be going out- battery starts other car with ease... struggles and slow to crank over- still wont start. Could a damaged waterpump prevent starting? i still don't know if waterpump is bad...any help?

P.S.- Thank you all for input- SORRY i do NOT add friends-nothing perssonal its just- This isn't myspace.

depending on how tight your belts are, and just how damaged your pump is, yeah it could prevent starting, because it would create friction on the crank pulley. i know it sounds crazy, and far out, but it is a possibility. plus you gotta remember your workin with a 50 yr old engine, thats probably never been rebuilt, LOL! but yeah im still really jealous. i absolutely love ford passenger cars from the early 60's.
