Here are pics of my 1976 Mustang Cobra II. I purchased the car in 1989. At the time it was a faded red (orange’ish) with black stripes. A few years later I gave it a mild makeover. The 302 was warmed up with heads, cam, intake….and the car was repainted white with black stripes. In 1994 I decided to do the car up right. John Brown in Oklahoma City did the body mods and the initial restoration.
I had the body bead-blasted. 2x2” square steel tubing found it’s way into the floor of the car connecting the front and rear subframes. The 8” was discarded in favor of a much stronger 9”. The new rear end had to be narrowed a bit to fit. At the same time it was set up with a full-floating ladder bar suspension. It currently has an “N” type 3rd member with 3.50 gears and a Detroit Locker.
The rear wheel openings were “stretched” approximately 1.5” to accommodate the 26x11.5x15 tires (which are currently MT ET Street radials). The firewall was also “massaged” to allow the ¼” thick Lakewood scatter shield to fit. Behind the Lakewood currently resides a Tremec TKO-600 with a custom shift handle. Some of the current work has been performed by local shops in the area which I now reside, such as Roy Linenberger (3rd member, sump & shifter), Jay Jahns (front anchors, alternator bracket), Clayton Racing (motor rebuild), and Mike post (dyno tuning). All other work was performed by myself.
The motor has seen several iterations since I’ve had it. In it’s current form, it is bored/stroked to 350 cubic inches. It also has Mass Flow EFI on top of a ported Victor Jr. . Air is feed to and compressed by a Paxton Supercharger. The motor is mounted to the car by way of a motor plate in lieu of motor mounts. This was done to fit the 1 7/8 custom headers. An extra measure to secure the motor comes from the front anchor supports. A roll cage was added as were fiberglass bumpers.

In 2008, Johnny Lightning featured my car in their annual calendar car series. This lead to the production of the Diecast replica, forever immortalizing my II !

It's been the Car of the Month on MustangII.net twice now both in the month of November, 2001 & 2008. It's also been a featured car on MustangII.org. We're a pretty small community, so no biggie there ;-)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a regular at numerous car shows throughout the summer and is accumulating awards.

lol usually i'm too busy laughing when i see these cars, but this is the FIRST one to ever make me step back and say wow. i personally dont see the appeal in the cars but to each his own. i just junked six of these cars a few months back even a 'cobra' i say it like that cause they were hardly worthy of the esteemed cobra badge from the factory. anyway you have made that one into something worth looking at great job man
