My Dad has a 1970 Dodge Daytona. A recreation of a car built by Chrysler and long lost since 1970. He is very intrigued by cars that were and disappeared or cars that were never built. We call it the Watermelon for obvious reasons. If your a Mopar fan, you know that everything in the 60's and 70's was very acid trippy. I like that about Mopar. Their advertisements, display cars, magazines, all wildly creative.
The 'Melon has a 440 six-pac. 5 SPD Keisler trans. Dana 60, 4.10 gears and the abilty to make you sqeeze the side of your seat. Then again, my Dad's been making me do that since I was a baby. Tearing up the neighborhood in one car or another, always with me in the passenger seat.
I remember one time, I was asleep in his 1971 Challenger T/A 340 six-pac 4 SPD and he was revving it up pretty loudly at a gas station. A man came out to yell at my dad about how he had a baby that was trying to sleep. He just kinda looked at me, SLEEPING, snuffed and walked away.
Alot of people used to ask, how I could sleep in such horribly, obnoxiously loud cars...
Its because Mopar is my only mother, and the sound of absolute carnage and destruction, is just her sweet lullaby. HA!
