1988 Monte SS with IROC 350 TPI Engine,T-Tops

1G1GZ11G1JP125452

This 1988 Monte SS is originally a Florida car that the previous owner brought to the Omaha, Nebraska area around 5 or so years ago. I bought the car in 3/2001, which I am the third owner of the car I believe. A little over a year of driving the car the engine started to run very bad so I figured I would do an engine swap. I decided to upgrade the car to fuel injection and thats what I did. I bought a 1988 5.7L (L98) TPI engine from an IROC with 63,XXX miles on it and that is what sits in it now. The new parts on the engine are: Totally Stainless TPI hex bolt kit, Lokar stainless steel throttle cable, Energy Suspension polyurethane motor mounts, NGK spark plugs, Accel 8mm Spiral Core wires, K&N 9 cone high flow air filter, Hypertech Thermomaster Chip, Painless Wiring Harness. The car has t-tops, electric fan with a switch to turn on, the AIR pump has been gutted and used just for the pulley, a Buick Grand National in tank fuel pump, 2004r tranny, 3.73 posi gears and new tires. The parts in the trunk include Hedman Headers, Chevrolet TPI & TBI Swapping Guide, 1988 Monte Carlo Shop Manual, weather-stripping, exterior trim, tranny cooler, wire loom and more.

The reason I am selling the car is because I had to move from Nebraska due to the Air Force and I didnt have enough time to get the car tuned and ready to go. The car runs for a short time (while it is on it runs strong and sounds great) and then stalls. Once the idle is set and all the vacuum lines are connected then that problem should be gone. There are a few things that need to be done to get the car on the road: the water pump needs to be replaced, the shift linkage needs to be reattached, a steering wheel spacer will be needed to tighten up the steering column (A damaged part forced me to replace the column) and there is a small oil leak at the oil pump cooler. (Probably just needs a little more tightening)

The interior shows the wear from all of the years as you can see in the pictures. The seats have no holes in them that I know of, but they definitely need some cleaning. I took out the CD Player I had, but the speakers (Pioneer 6x9s in the rear deck and Sony 3 tweeters in front) are almost new.

As you can tell, the car could definitely use a couple coats of paint. The body is pretty straight though and I found one small patch of bondo on the side. There is a bump on the rear rubber bumper on the passenger side, but I am told it can be fixed. There is also some bubbling on the side of the passenger side brake light.

I am making a club called B.A.M Badass American Muscle the reason I'm making this club is cuz im tired of hearing lil pissed off bees goin up n down the road, aka ricers, an I am really tired of seeing the lil half wit wanna bees. I wanna show them that American Muscle is somethin ya can't kill, so I'm thinking about summer time in the middle of it we all gonna have a meeting, just basically join up, hang out, swap stories, like a big ass party. Then we'll all go for a cruise to show American Muscle lives forever. I'll allow any domestic car, muscle cars, trucks, vans, what ever you have as long as it is american made and not riced out. I ain't payin for nothing, y'all just gotta pay for what ever you get. Their is no fee to enter, u can quit if you want, I ain't holding you back. Only thing I'm worried about is if who ever joins in stays in it if they want. I gotta keep in contact with'em so when and if we have our meeting everyones there.
