wim_vansande's 1991 Mazda Miata

this is a pic from the time I lived in Holland, see the tulips?

In September 2005 the three of us went to Croatia: the 5, my girlfriend and me. We wanted to see the coast from north to south, from Porec to Dubrovnik. Plans were made for the trip, the car got some fresh oil and new brake pads and discs all around. So on 9th September we set off via Normandy (in France) as 1 one my mates got married there. After the wedding night we had the whole of France to cross, via Milan and Venice in Italy to Croatia. On the destination we had 12 days of the best weather available for the time of the year: sun, temperatures in the mid-twenties and low-thirties and top-down. We camped the whole period of the trip so tent, sleeping bags, camping gas cooker, pots and pans and clothes, I got it all in the boot (don?t ask :-)

2 weeks and 5561km later we arrived back in Holland, and my little great car didn?t miss a beat, what an absolute beauty!
My colleagues told me to take some travel insurance like the AA, but I refused and I spend the 70euro I saved by not taking the insurance on a beautiful meal with a very nice wine in Dubrovnik... What a great way to spend 15 days in an MX-5!

November 2005: This fella is moving countries again... But this time I can't take my car with me. My girlfriend and me are moving to New Zealand, yep all the way! Herself is a Kiwi, and I am fed up with Holland too, so off we go. I got the Permanent Residency Visa so I am allowed in :-)
But I have to sell the 5, that is the disadvantage. They drive on the left side and law requires me to rebuild the car to RHD as it is not old enough yet. That and the price of actually shipping the car made me decide to put it up for sale. A sad day in my life as a 5 owner. 5's are not too expensive in NZ anyway, so I might purchase one over there... who knows.
