Preparation For New Engine 2 (Ancillaries)
Along with the actual bodywork, all the other bits in the engine would look odd if they were not updated to match, so these bits are on this page.
Washer bottle, bonnet catch, and bonnet hold up bar removed for refurbishment (along with rear brake discs to stop them seizing:

So I gave them all a good degreasing and clean up, and painted the bonnet hold up bar:

Next up was the exhaust manifold. Mine is a lovely Cusco Jasma approved stainless steel mandrel bend 4-1 manifold, it was starting to look tired however, so I decided to degrease, clean and respray it in high temperature paint:

It started raining so I covered the manifold up whilst the paint dried and had a BBQ :^D

The end result:

Horn mounts and Cusco anti-roll bar was also painted in the hammerite blue:

Engine mounts repainted in hammerite blue too:

Due to ever increasing electronic gadgets in cars these days I would need switches (needed one straight away for compulsory UK rear fog light). So I decided to get rid of the well redundant cassette tape holder and replace with a switch panel.

I had some spare carbon fibre laying around so thought I'd use this for the job, and it should give a neatish finish, so I cut out a template and got working:

I choose the better side for the outside finish, then got cracking on modifying the cassette holder to take the wires in the back for the switches:

Final finish isn't brilliant, the switches don't align properly for a start haha, but hey this was never supposed to be a show car.
The final bit of prep I did without the space consuming engine in the way was a modification to my power steering rack. I got a Battle Version extra lock kit 2 to extend the rack by about 20mm to give more steering lock, for more angled sideways action :^D
The spacers and how stupid a car looks without wheels pointing in the same direction:

Before the modification:

Putting the spacers on:

Putting it all back together:

and the result (before on left, after on right) (both are done with steering lock at max):

Lastly some random unexplained pictures that I took during this phase:
