Engine Start Up Attempt 4
So I finally got the engine running! I tightened up seals on intercooler pipes, and fiddled with advancing/retarding the engine using this bolt:

Had a quick break during the rainy day too :):

I used a oversized jubilee clip for mounting the in-line fuel filter:

The engine couldn't run for too long without a cooling system, so last bit to install was a electric radiator fan, this should provide more airflow and have no no drain on the engine compared to the standard viscous fan. I got this fan from a VVTi Corolla but unfortunately it was slightly too long for my radiator, so I only used one half of it.

I decided to move the coil packs too, as I was concerned about the water flow through the heater matrix, so it is further down the engine nearer to the intercooler pipes now:

Conclusion
With that done, and a few more tweeks and tightening of bolts the car is now complete, it passed the UK MOT test 13 months after the engine initially went. I spent a few months searching and deciding on what engine to get then found Lee Kun at www.clkmotorsport.com who I highly reccomend, if you make an enquiry let him know you saw his work on these pages. I got the engine and spent about 8 months doing the conversion, modifications, and all the other bits I've mentioned during my weekends and evenings during the summer months. It would have been done quicker if I had a similar guide like I've done here to follow, so I don't expect other people to take as long now.
After going through this long project, the end has come at bad timing for me to go actually put it to use, so it is for sale. The reason is because I am going travelling and intend too for a few years so the car is useless to me being sat at home in the UK. While I'm here if anyone needs a hand with their AE86 or similar car I am happy to help wherever I am, in return either some money, food or a place to sleep the night would be greatly appreciated. I did this build blog as extensively as I think it needs to be to help anyone who wants to do the same thing. I would have done chassis modifications (roll cage) and changed panels to fibreglass if I was too keep it longer then follow that up with a twin charged conversion. Maybe some day I will, I'd definately have another AE86 anyway.
I hope you have enjoyed these pages and hope that it helps someone out there. Feel free to leave comments and rate the car.
Rob.
