Engine Start Up Attempt 1
So it failed to start, the first noticeable thing was the engine management/check light wasn't on the dash, that aside I decided to stick my fingers in the exhaust outlet and give them a sniff for fuel. I couldn't detect any so I suspect the engine wasn't recieving any. I did a check on the fuel pump and it was not getting a signal from the ECU, I hadn't finished some wiring on one of the plugs; further investigation showed the plug I hadn't done sends a signal to the fuel pump relay. So it was time to finish that wiring!

The light still failed to come on after this wiring, there was still a fault somewhere. Some more investigation and advice showed I had completely missed 2 plugs near the ignition electronics, one was power to the ECU! The other was for reducing interference. I also missed one going into the bottom of the fusebox (provides earth) and a ground cable connecting engine to car body:

Whilst I'm here I'd also like to mention I missed the alternator charge port before, and made up a wire which I connected for it:

With all the electrical mistakes sorted, surely it would start now!...
