Further Car Preparation
An issue with changing to non power steering means the fluid resorvoir on top of the steering rack no longer exists there is a big gap between the steering column shaft and the steering rack. The only way to solve this is to get a longer steering column shaft.

The end of the steering colum being the middle bit of the steering set up is called the intermediate shaft, all I had to do was pull this out and replace with one from a non power steering car, alternatively a MA71 Super intermediate shaft would also fit. Unfortunately I had huge problems getting the intermediate shaft out (read: it did not budge at all). Various tactics include putting a vice over it and bashing away with a mallet (see vice in above photo's), which did not work, so to get better leverage I took the whole steering column out. A job I'd later become more and more familiar with, so here is the removal in photo stages for anyone who needs to do this hateful task, I even made myself a steering wheel puller to complete the job:

With that all out, it was time to inspect the steering rack and have another go at removing the intermediate shaft:

In other news; the idea of using a T50 for now to save some problems away from using the W57 gearbox plan was scrapped, as I'd have to use the new flywheel for the GZE, the new clutch cover, yet the old clutch plate, or something like that, altogether it ended up being a bad idea so I went back to the W57 like originally planned:

With all that done, it was time again to put the engine back in...
