Welcome to the MotorworldHype.com CarDomain page! This is one of the spots where we'll be keeping you updated on the progress of our Lexus IS-F "GT" SEMA car. We definitely have some cool stuff planed for our GT concept so if you're interested stay tuned to this page or our blog on MotorworldHype.com for updates. Below is where we're at so far...
Here it is! This is our brand new fully-loaded Starfire Pearl Lexus IS-F in all of her (stock) glory!
And here it is again parked outside of the shoe store, AKA Mackin Industries, AKA the land of Rays Engineering and Volk Racing. So what's the natural thing to do at a shoe store?
What do you do at a shoe store? Try on some kicks! The guys at Mackin were nice enough to test fit some special edition RE30's
Right here we were doing an offset check. If you look closely you can see the lip sitting near flush with the liine of the fender.
After the RE30s we decided to try on a set of the timeless Volk TE37s. In the end we decided this would be the best choice for what we're trying to do. However this is just a teaser shot. The TE37s that we are going to use will look slightly different from what you see here.
After the wheels were fitted we took the car over to Shawn at Street Concepts . This place is pretty much a one stop shop for building your project. They can handle just about anything you need here and they've built some of the finest SEMA cars you'll ever see. RJ swears by them so they were the natural choice to be the "official shop" for our MotorworldHype Lexus IS-F "GT"
The first thing we did once the car got to Street Concepts was rip out the seats. Here are some pics of the damage after RJ and I were finished pulling everything out.
Here are the newly liberated seats. We're going to replace the perforated areas in the middle of the seats with blue alcantara to match the factory blue stitching in the leather. It's going to be fresh.
This is the lid for the center console between the front seats. It doesn't look like much but this was the hardest part from the interior to remove! This piece will also be wrapped in blue alcantara.
While we were waiting for the interior to get done we decided to have the brake calipers painted Ultrasonic Blue Mica which is another OEM color that the IS-F is offered in. Can you tell our theme is blue/black/white?
The seats are back! Check it out we replaced all the peforated leather with blue alcantara.
Here is another sneek peek. We're doing a little custom body work. This is what our front lip will look like. Although what you see in the picture is just a "plug" the final piece will be made from vaccum bagged dry carbon fiber. It's gonna be sick!
Here is a teaser shot of what we're doing towards the back. Hmm looks like a diffuser, and where is the trunk. What are we going to do there? I wonderrrrrr....
Here she is! The end result of months of hard work! We're quite pleased with the results. What do you guys think?
Here is a rear shot which features the carbon fiber boot lid and rear diffuser. We have the prototype pieces but they're available for sale now from Ventross (A division of Vorstiner) at Ventross.com.
Here is a closer look at our Ventross front lip.
And here is our Ventross diffuser! This part really sets off the rear end.
Here is a closer look at our Ventross carbon fiber boot lid with intergrated spoiler. The best part about having a carbon fiber trunk is that when you hit the trunk popper button the lid is so light that it opens the trunk all the way! Sweeet!
Here is what our seats look like installed. We were glad we decided to go with a theme to match the stock blue stiching. Plus alcantara is very comfortable. Like butta!
Here is our engine bay which has been taken up a notch by our Gallery (www.galleryfresh.com) bolt set. Why gold? Why not...
Here is a closer look at our custom airbox which was a collab between Gallery and Gearheniz fabrication. Also annodized in "California Gold"
Stay tuned for more pics on your local news racks in the near future. This is a sneek peek shot from a recent photoshoot we did for Modified Luxury & Exotics magazine.
