Early Days.... probably taken in '97
This was after the destroyed vinyl top came off
and the roof was painted white...
This is my '73 Dodge Charger. I was given this car by my dad when I was 18. My dad picked it up from a guy who puchased the car here locally at Union Sales Dodge in Martinsburg, WV. He then moved to Michigan. He returned to WV after several years with the car. He parked it in a field until the day my dad saw it. With vines growing through it and all kinds of critters living in it, he laughed when my dad offered him a thousand bucks for it. Apparently he thought it was junk. Dad stuck a new battery in it and it fired up on the first try. Dad drove it for about 2 years before passing it off to me as my first car.
I used it as my daily driver for about 5 years with very little maintenance. When I got it, I gave it all new front end bushings. In the middle of winter... (note to self, don't EVER do that again!) In 1999 I entered into the local Apple Harvest Festival Car Show put on by the Norwalk Antique Car Club. Having a little too much fun in it, I ended up wiping the cam in 2001. I had another vehicle at the time, so I parked it until I had the time and money to fix it right. That has taken a while. Now, it's 2008 and I have started a much needed restoration. Currently the interior is gutted and some surface rust is being sanded off. I hope to have it back on the road by the end of this summer, but we'll have to see how time/money goes.
Well, it's August and very little has been done with the Charger. All my time is being put into my Daytona to get it back on the road as my daily driver. Got a couple other projects on the list for shop time before the Charger now, (wife's XJ is making a funny noise on startup and my buddies Toyota needs new seals - $$$ jobs gotta go first - LOL) but I'll get it in there soon.
