Hey! Welcome to my Nimbus GSR page!!

I bought this little bus because it was cheap, (almost free..), and I needed a practical daily. The gutless 1.8 SOHC carby motor had it's share of dramas, so I threw it in the bin.

I decided to install a 4G63 2.0 MPFI DOHC motor from a j-spec GSR Galant. What started as a joke, has become a cheap to run, reliable, practical, and surprisingly fast, 7 seater people mover! These car's dimensions are deceptive. It is actually a lot smaller and lighter than it looks.

My Nimbus is a UB, (D05W).

This is how the bus looked when I got it. Stocko $400..

The standard 4G37 made very little power, and trying to convince it to make more would be silly.. and inefficient.

So, I whacked in a low km, jap import 4G63 DOHC.

I decided to go NA. I had a hard time refusing the VR4 turbo motor, but there's no way I could convince the police that it were standard! :) The air box is missing in this photo, but it all looks factory when it's installed. Besides, the bus is front heavy and FWD. It would be a handfull if turbo.

There was a small amount of fabrication, but nothing major.

Here's the parts I used.
HH Galant GSR 4g63 dohc 6 bolt motor (import)

HG galant 4g63 sohc
-flywheel/clutch
-MAS
-accelerator cable
-alternator + bracket

HG galant GSR
-ECU
-loom (extensively modified)
-MFI relay

94 sonata DOHC (HEAPS cheaper parts than the GSR)
-radiator + thermo fans
-CAS
-coil pack
-ignitor

Cordia Turbo
-5 speed box
-CV shafts

DIY right+rear engine mounts, stock nimbus 4g37 front mount

It's a pretty fun setup, and very funny too.
People in actual sportscars are offended to be beaten by this thing.
I have modified the suspension, though it's a little ghetto.. The front has standard struts, with the bump stops cut to 10mm, solid strut tops, and 3 inches of mx83 cressida rear springs welded in. The rears are chopped down Gemini front springs, clamped to the body so as they can't fall out, and Pedders gas shocks. The bus is VERY tight and solid (bumpy!) on the road. It is amazing how well it grips. The wheels are 15" R33 skyline non turbo rims, and the tyres are 205/50/15 Federal 195's.

I made up a 2.25 inch mandrel bent exhaust running 2 hotdogs. It is loud, but not too silly.

The windows are tinted maybe a little too dark.. ;)

I'm getting between 9 - 11 lt/100km, which is less than the old 1.8 g37b!!

what did you do for the wiring!? because i have a feeling the wiring is completely different for swapping the 2.0 DOHC in to mine, even with the 2.0 SOHC. noone has it recorded anywhere and im starting to get all depressed knowing theres gonna be a problem swapping the motors.
