I have had this car for well over four years now. Okay it has cost lots of money in depreciation and maintenance but it is the first car that still makes me smile every time I drive it. Cant be bad after almost four years!!!
To date it has had new:
short block at 44k (now 99k)
water pump
tie rods
A/C condensor
A/C evaporator
auxiliary fan
VANOS unit
seat airbag sensor
alternator
wishbones
upper control arms
rear lower suspension bushes
front struts
rear shock abosrbers
top rubber shock absorber mounts
thermostat
rear heatshields
business radio head
Instrument cluster due to pixel loss
the list just goes on and on....
The car is now set for at least another 80k before the failures start happening again. Some of the replacement parts by BMW feature improvements over the originals so they may last longer.

The car has been lowered with H&R springs, 35mm front , 15 mm rear.
SorrentoCJ wears BMW stye 32 18" rims with Continental tyres which I find as good as Michelins but cheaper.

zondas007: My car came direct from BMW "dechromed" 6872499: Remove the front brake pads and coat the rears of them with copper slip. THis will solve the problem

Just bought a 728i, replacing my E200. Drive is great, and I was surprised that it didnt lack power. Its 4 years old with just 45k miles. My brakes squeak, wonder how this can be fixed.

Will help whenever I can David. Just let me know and I will try and do my best. These cars go through a mid life crisis at 80k ish and mine went through that. No problems now though...touches wood

good to see another 728 theres not many on this net.i'm a newcomer to the 728 only had it a couple of weeks having got rid of my 300ce merc-no contest there i'm smitten with the 7 its a fabulous car-r plate, biarritz blue,18"type 32's,grey leather elec/heated,cruise,m sport wheel.i,m a little perturbed about the list of things that you've had done in your time with the car i hope not to expect too much trouble?!i know before i got the car it had the vanos replaced at 96k and new bottom end by rydale at 50k.i like to do as much service work thats possible myself but cant find much diy tech info yet however you seem pretty clued up and an enthusiastic owner are you happy to be a guru if i need some advice?hope theres not too much in store for me just yet!
