bumpa145's 1966 AMC Rambler

This is a 1966 AMC Marlin of which 4547 were made for this model year. It has been completely restored with custom touches, such as shaved door handles, custom interior and paint, and custom wheels. It debuted at Edmonton Powerama in April of 2008 where it won first place in its class. The car sits on an airbag suspension system from Macgyvers Street Rod Products in Edmonton. All bodywork and paint was done at Show Time Auto Refinishing in Camrose, Alberta. They also customized the dash, installing the airbag pressure gauges in pods in the lower dash, with the switches in the former ashtray next to them. They also installed the Sony stereo into the dash in place of the stock radio.

The following are pictures from before the restoration when the car was all original.

This is an artist concept drawing done by Gerard Graffix before the work was started showing what I was intending to have the car look like.

The next two pictures show the car in the Edmonton Powerama 2008 car show. The paint is 92 Subaru Electric Yellow single stage, and six coats were sprayed on to give lots of depth. Show Time did beautiful work, replacing any area where there were rust pinholes with new metal, and making everything straight and true before paint went on. The engine and drivetrain are original to the car and all rebuilt. It has AMC's 327 c.i. V8 with 4 bbl carb, and the "Flash-O-Matic" transmission with console shift, and is a real blast to drive, and I do drive it. It was never intended to be a trailer queen.

The following photos show the interior, which is finished in Ultraleather. The front bucket seats are from a 1987 Chrysler Daytona, and the original back seat was then modified to match them. The steering column is a Flaming River tilt column in brushed stainless, topped with a black and yellow steering wheel from Grant Racing.

Great Job. Shaving the handles was a great idea. It smooths out the sides nicely. I love to see factory engines and trans still in the cars. Old school meets New school. Is the sir cleaner orig. to the car? Check out my wagon.>>>>>>>> 5's*****

I seriously love the lines on this ride. It has the presonality of a lead sled with still being a muscle car. SICK! Do you mind if I use this picture? Thanks, Dave
