I bought the scamp in oct of '92 for a mere $125.00 it was a basket case, the owner was tired of her .He says she would'nt stop. and he was sick of trying to find the problem .So i paid him and took the side streets to get  her home ...and man the guy  was right. It took both feet and standing on the pedal to get it to stop so i could get safely   home. I found out  someone put the shoes all the way around the car on" backwards" for the mopar guys with drum brakes.... you know what i'm saying.Well i switched all the shoes around and she stopped pretty good for 9" drum brakes. So now it's time for some custom plans for the girl . the 1st thing i wanted to do  was something unheard of at the time. And way different from what anyone i new  was doing. So i cut the top off..i wanted a convertible . A convertible that mopar didn't make. So  ah'cuttin i went  i had'nt heard of sub frame connectors then so i made them out of 2" sqaure tubing. because of the unibody design. And i did'nt want it to fold up like an old lounge chair but since then have cut out and installed mopar performance subframe connectors from "mancini". Works great. Body is super stiff. took out the slant 6 and installed a 1974 hyd lifter " 340 " cam 360 mopar crate engine. she's strong and fast. The top is automatic , it started out as manual but i was able to come up with pump and cylinders.  It was green and in major need of attenion  i  honestly did'nt think i would be at this point with the car to be thinking 16 years latter man i which i had only a few snap shots of it  from before i started  the scamp spent most of it's life in the garage due to building it . You all know that your always changing something or doing somthing else to 'em . i have  drivin her more this yr '08 than all the other years since i've owned her. I did'nt drive  her at all  in '06/'07 if it was'nt the weather it was something else to keep me from being able too  ie.... work, family, etc..... She only gets driven on weekends and in good weather.

Sweet conversion to a rag top! I like that you are sharing by taking it to some shows. If you havent run across my page yet, I have posted a couple of original 1971 Chrysler - Plymouth sales brochures. Check out what your car looked like in the original sales brochure, and some of the styles and options that were available in 1971. Its kinda cool! Thanks.
