I currently own several Ford Mavericks, and a Mustang or other Ford product from time to time but I really enjoy these cars. You dont see them everyday, everybody and their mom doesnt own one and if you present one at a car show or cruise-in, then chances are it's going to be one of the few if not the only one there.
This particular one is a 1971 2dr. This car is particularly special in it's own way I guess. It was ordered as a standard 2dr sedan, with Grabber Blue Paint (code:J) and a painted White top (code:M). Most of these cars that were ordered with a 'colored' top were vinyl but a few were just painted.
This car was also ordered with the optional 210 HP 302 2v V8 engine, and automatic C4 transmission. It also features power steering, optional 3.00:1 rear axle ratio, the optional accent package and was also equipped with factory air conditioning. The factory A/C components have been removed and is no longer on the car.
I just had the car painted at a local body shop. It's not a $10K paint job but it looks REALLY good and for a daily driver I am very pleased with it. I also added some late model mustang wheels to it for a 'newer' touch. Kind of an old school meets new school kinda thing. They're 17x9" polished Bullitt wheels wrapped with 245/45/ZR17 BFGoodrich Comp T/A tires. A 1" spacer was added to the front and a 1.25" spacer was added to the rear of each tire in order for the rims to fit accordingly and I think they turned out great!
Here's a snapshot of the car right after I got it road worthy...
and here's some pictures after paint and added the wheels...
and for the time being, here's an interior shot...
here's some snapshots after adding a grille. this isn't the particular i plan on using but i had it extra and it's in good shape.
Here's an overall shot of the car. im proud of the results so far. we'll just have to see what's in store for the future...
Update: I just completed a T5 5-speed manual transmission swap as of 8-16-08. Ill have some updated pictures up soon!
