This is my 1989 Corolla AE92 SKD
It's an SKD so its basically a JDM manufactured to export specs . It used to be 040 Super White . Initially i wanted to just respray the car with Nippon acrylic mixed to Toyota's 040 Super White , but the salesman at the paint shop sweet talked me into using Urethane Paint.
After scraping, rust-proofing and epoxy primering the car, I was hooked! Since its an SKD I decided to go all JDM with it and give it a different color and make it look as clean as possible.

View from the passenger side. As you can see i got all the indicator lights to work. Indicator lights from left to right; Door, Seatbelt, Catalytic Converter, Battery, Oil, Transmission Oil Temp, TEMS, Defogger, Handbrake and Check Engine
Here it is being test fitted into the dashboard.
A photo shortly after i wired in the harness loom.
A pic of the old GL instrument cluster and the stripped interior.
The old Instrument Cluster had White-on-White TRD gauge faces .
...and a 10K tach.
An internal part of the GT-S cluster - "TEMS ECT" . yes its wired in and functional!
LHD chequred Corolla Levin seats . You can also clearly see the MOMO steering wheel and hub, and the Custom Short Throw shifter (2.5" throws!), there's that JDM cupholder too.

Front Left JDM SKD door siding .
Rear Right JDM SKD door siding .
Rear Left JDM SKD door siding .
A pic of the OEM JDM AM/FM knob radio for the AE92 and a JDM cupholder being test fitted.
The cupholder fits well but i'll be replacing it with the a JDM OEM AE92 cupholder .
Right after the scraping and rustproofing stage comes the primering.
Everything i could take off with a wrench i took off.
Everything came off...
...even the fuel flap. hehehe...
I was able to find a JDM OEM 3 point stabilizer bar so i put it in.
And straight from Malaysia - a TRD front stabilizer bar
Nearing the end of the project.
Initial D inspired. I painted the bonnet black just to see if it would look good. well it does but i decided to go with the body color anyway.
Test fitting everything including the spare grill that i cut out to give the car a sporty look. i decided to go witht the JDM grill though
Looking good, now for a few more layers of top coat.
Put the interior back in.
Ready for show? Not yet. She needs some buffing to look really nice.
Everything back together and waiting to be buffed!
The camera can't quite capture the way the color changes.
You can see that the color turns white, silver, two shades of light blue (a darker and lighter one), yellow, and apple green.
Here's what she looks like from the front. The JDM Tilting License Plate Holder adds a nice touch. Plus its functional since the JDM Levin Bumper can only accomodate a Japanese license plate.
Painted, top coated and buffed rims!
Buffed and showing off the rare low registration Green Japanese License Plate ! What a beauty!
Look at that shine!
Is the paint still wet? nope, its got a wet look finish! Those LHD Levin Seats look real nice too!
Shining under the sunlight.
Hasn't been waxed yet on this photo. just rubbed down and buffed.
After the rubdown and shining like a star.
At this angle you can see some of the color shifting.
So much light reflection that parts of the car seem white!
Mirror finish on a light colored vehicle? Apparently its possible.
Completely flat, no bumps and waves. Can turn half an image into a whole.
A look into the engine bay .
Gotta update this pic though. Got new goodies.
See Below for the updated pic.
TRD and Bilstein suspension compnents up front...
...and at the rear.
A view of the pedals and one of the Blaupunkt speakers custom mounted on the kick panel.

A pic of the maiden voyage to SBMA after the repaint. Real shiny.

Another View of the two abovementioned JDM Switches . You can see how well the Non-slip mats blend in with my Special Edition Checqured LHD Levin Seats .
JAF Badge to add a little more JDM flair to the car.
JDM is the way to go!
Another angle of the car with the JAF badge .
Since we opened the hood already, lets look in it.
Still clean. There's that Velocitystack i was talking about earlier, a new Rising Rate Fuel Pump ...
...and there's my K&N Breather.
16 Bulb Dome Light LED in Super White trim. Looks really nice at night.

The whole dashboard. Fully loaded with all the JDM goodies i could get my hands on.
Now, for that elusive climate control.....
My 4AGroup Membership Sticker.
In case you were wondering where my Japanese License Plate went, there it is on the backboard.
Look at the car shine!
Seven days outside the garage, very dusty and without wax.
Yet she shines.
You can see the thick JDM Door Mouldings and the chrome lined JDM Door Handles.
Dropped by one time to find this!

Here she is ranked Number 1 in the Toyota Corolla All Years category

Here she is ranked as the Number 1 Toyota!
I couldn't believe it myself but there it is!

That low chassis number can only mean one thing...
JDM!
