EVOLUTION OF LOOKS
In 2003, the KIA Spectra was quite rare. Still, I taped black the middle louvre of the chrome grille because I felt it over over-chromed.
Nowadays, it's popularity makes it ubiquitous, I had to do something to give it character ... and a soul of it's own. A spray of silver was added to the front. I wonder what effect it has on others but when I cruise on the fast lane and someone's in front, there is a tendency for that chap to give way.
A few days later, a red border stripe was added to frame the sprayed section and create a clear distinction between the two colours. This simple yet effective paint job somehow has set Putt-Putt apart from the rest and established a distinctive character, for better or worse, a one-of-its-kind look unique only to Putt-Putt. I still yearn to but don't have not enough money to extend the spray job sideways. One day, maybe ...
.
As for the rear, I peeled off the chrome "SPECTRA" and "LS" lettering mainly to make it easier to clean the car and avoid raindrop stains while accentuating that clean look.
If I had extra cash, rest assured there'd be blue suede seats...if! In the meantime, I kind of like the stock interior, KIA designers had put lots of thought into it. The plastic moulding is tougher material than the KIA Sephia's. After 3 years usage, the front moulding of the KIA Sephia under the windscreen buckled but even after 5 years usage, not the KIA Spectra.
