nitrous2003's 1968 Ford Mustang

2-26-03 I was 18 when I first brought her home. I still remeber how excited I was when the tow truck dropped her off at my driveway and I got to drive her for the first time. It was so exhilarating since this was my very first car. The surging idle caused the whole car to quiver giving just a hint of what power lies beneath this beatiful machine. But after just sitting there for a few months without any playtime, she kinda looked a little tired and bored as you can see from the pictures, so after I scraped up some money I started to buy some new parts from www.mustangsunlimited.com and dressed her up a bit. It has a 289 4V, with 80,000 miles on it. I bought it for $5K.

I put on new valve covers, breather, air cleaner, 8mm wires, crome fan... and a few other small things.

Then after awhile, after I saved up a bit, I started to buy bigger, better things to really make her stand out and make her perform better. I put on some new shoes,15x8 Magnum 500s with spinners

Added some stopping power,SSBC power disc brakes

Did some exhaust work, Hooker 1 5/8 Super Comp headers w/ 1 1/2 flowmaster 2 chamber series 40 mufflers w/ 3 1/2 crome tips(sounds awesome!)

Found a sweet 4 3/4 cowl induction hood from www.up22.com with nascar type hood pins. Also if can see it, I took everything off the grill except the pony to add a more low profile look to it like the '68 fastback from the movie "Bullitt." I bought a spoiler for the front that I have yet to put on it. I don't know. What do you guys think? Leave it the way it is? Or add the spoiler to it?

It sure wasn't very fun trying to pry that 35 yr. old intake off.

Rusty and chipped, it was time to put this one out of commission.

And put this one to work, an edelbrock high rise dual plane intake w/ an edelbrock 600 cfm 4barrel carb.

Future mods will include the following; 17x8 American Racing Torque Thrusts II wheels, Grant steering wheel, possible "Eleanor" body kit, traction bars, new heads, crane cam w/ roller rockers and lifters, possible stroker kit, fuel cell, racing seats and slammin' sound system (not sure what company to go with yet. Any help would be great!) Tell me what you think so far!

I changed my screen name drop me a line some time. I was the one who wrote you this about the wheels. Hey I saw your post on the Black Fastback about putting 17x9.5s in the rear of your 68. Well you can because I have some on mine. Come check it out. You can get a 10 inch wide wheel if you measure right. I know of a guy who has already done it. Just don't slap some torq thusts on there. Don't get me wrong they look great but there like assholes everybody got them. Do something different.
