This is my pride and joy for the last 12 months. I first drove one at the age of 14 on Gran Tursimo on the Playstation 1 and I've wanted it ever since. Full specs and modifications are located on page 2.

UPDATES:

04/09/09 - So I've had all the springs changed so I can drive the car around normal roads without bottoming out everywhere, wasn't a planned thing to do but done it anyway. Drives awesome now, no squeaks or major bumps, an almost quiet ride! Furthermore, I've joined the state police and I don't get paid much for training at the academy therefore the clutch and final tune will have to wait until I'm in the force which won't be till about March 2010. So I doubt I'll be updating anything more on here until then. The car drives fine and as long as I don't give it too much stick the clutch holds its own so it's not an emergency thing to do.

19/06/09 - Still haven't had time to take it up, had it booked in but managed to write my mothers car off so had to pay excess for insurance which set me back a bit. Also had my Toyota Land Cruiser resprayed which was pretty good. Might have to set up another page detailing that. Hopefully have less problems doing that up than this thing. Anyways, will post again once the car had been and gone from the workshop.

14/05/09 - What a bloody nightmare. Had the leaks fixed, no problem. Got a new downpipe fitted while I was at it, some problems (more on that in a little bit). Drive the car around, no problem. Take the car back to Springy Motors for the final tune and wouldn't you believe it, they couldn't run the car up! Something to do with the rear wheels travelling faster than the front so the dyno would slow down to compensate. Engine revving up and down with the foot flat to the floor. At first I thought it was the Viscous coupling unit. But doing the wheel turning check proved that to be wrong. While I was doing that mind you, I noticed that my rear wheels were almost back to the wires from scrubbing on my inner guards. So it was another $400 on my credit card for adjustable arms to stop it scrubbing out (another 2 tyres at $340 a pop too). Anyway, After much debate over the last 3 weeks, I'm fairly confident it's the clutch, slipping while under load. So I'll take it up the transmission guys to check it out some time soon to verify if it is or not and go from there.  Once this is fixed its back to get the final tune and that is that!

Now, my new downpipe. Purchased it from eBay for $260 delivered thinking that it'd be a straight fit (cause that's what it says!)  Again, nothing's easy with this car. The pipe had to be cut because it was too long to fit up to my existing exhaust, the turbo ends had to be heated up and moved slightly to match up properly. Cost another $500 with a hi-flow cat fitted. I guess all in all, it was cheaper than buying a ready made one from the states, should flow about the same and looks a hell of a lot better than the stock downpipe. (Stay tuned for pics of this cause it wont let me upload for some reason, until then here's a thread from 3si.org about my downpipe install with pics here)

09/04/09 - Took the car to Springy Motors in Springvale and had it boosted and tuned. Running 13 PSI and made 171.4kw at all 4 wheels. Mind you, it also had a boost leak. So once I fix the leak I'll be taking it back for a second tune to run 14 PSI. I've also purchased a new downpipe and fitted my new hood vents so we'll see how close I can get to that 200kw mark in a couple of weeks...

24/03/09 - Went to the Latrobe Valley 2009 car show on Sunday. About 200 cars were entered. I was awarded 1st place for best import. Rock on.

20/03/09 - A few things have changed since my last post. New Intercooler piping has been fitted and it has made the world of difference.. The car pulls heaps harder once boost hits. I'll estimate it's probably about 150kw at the wheels now. I've bought new hood strut covers for the bonnet with vents at the back of them from 3SX.com to allow for better airflow in the engine bay, it gets so hot under there. Just waiting for those to be sprayed up so I can put them on. It's booked into a workshop on the 6th of April so it can be fitted with a new computer  so the boost can be increased and be properly tuned. Chasing 200kw at all 4 wheels. So we'll see how close I get to that mark. New pictures will be coming soon too once I figure out this damn iPhone I bought!

03/02/09 - So it would seem that my Intercooler set up is actually a restriction on my power output. Last run was 134kw at all 4's. Purchasing new setup shortly as with the rest of the go bits like a boost controller. Stay tuned...

29/11/08 - It's back! Again! I've never known a car to have so many common problems throughout the entire range of make. The 3000GT is an awesome car no question, but only once you pay the price for quality after market parts from the states. I've spent about $7000AUD to date. Only buy this type of car if you are goingto be 100% dedicated and have the funds to keep it going. Do your thorough research beforehand to make sure you know how it ticks inside and out so you dont make any mistakes taking it to the wrong person for repairs. I had minor knowledge when I first purchased it but I've been lucky in that my mate Tom has been a mechanic for decades and helps me out all the time. Thanks Tom.

11/11/08 - So I went to launch my car the other week right. Give it about 2800rpm and dump the clutch and something goes pop, my car is in gear and it doesn't stall. It doesn't go anywhere either, just revs everytime you press the accellerator. Turns out I split my newly resplined output shaft in two. So another $1000 on ordering the 300M shaft from the states and it'll be all back together (again) by next week.

4/10/08 - I now know why my car suddenly idles high for no reason! This is good. It's the IAC (Idle Air Control) sensor, so a quick talk with my mechanic tomorrow and I'll order it from the states, should cost about $150AUD.

18/09/08 - Dyno'd the car today, 133.5kw at all 4 wheels. Boost peaked at 10.5PSI but settled to 9PSI. Still pondering whether to modify the car further, perhaps I'll just leave it for a while...

16/08/08 - She's back! I'm impressed with it too, they done a good job in the end, though it took them 13 weeks. The cost you ask? Just under 6K. Aint it lucky I don't see money as the be all and end all. Here's the list of repairs (in AUD currency):
-Remove and replace gearbox and clutch - $675
-Repair gearbox - $3,050
-Dismantle Transfer case and repair input spline and reasmble - $250
-New clutch kit A126219 - $650
-Machine Flywheel - $44
-Oils - $31
-Gearbox to Transfer case shaft resplined - $660 <=== (WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!).
Got 6 months warranty or 10,000kms, whichever comes first.

14/08/08 - Just got off the phone with the gearbox guys, took them 3 weeks to put my gearbox together once they had the parts, advanced transmissions my ass! But anyway, really happy 'cause my car is now ready and I pick it up Saturday morning. Really looking forward to it too :)

06/08/08 - Still don't have the car back, been 3 months now. Although I have been told they now have all the parts and it needs to be put back together and sent off to this other joint to check out why it idles high at random times. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel yet no idea on how far away it is. Can't seem to shake off the idea of buying a locally made V8 because of all this waiting around...

16/07/08 - First update, car has been in the transmission shop getting the gearbox and output shaft fixed for 9 weeks now. Getting aggravated, but there's nothing I can do because they're waiting on parts from overseas after much debate on how we were going to go about fixing and/or replacing everything.
