This is a 1993 Mustang "Feature Car" also known as a "Summer Special". I owned this car for about a 2 years. This car is 1 of 452 built. The Chrome Yellow cars came in 2 basic styles Yellow/Black or Yellow/White tops. Ford also built another Feature Car which was all White or Triple White. The Yellow cars featured Chrome Pony wheels, special edition seats which were leather embossed with a running horse on the headrests(black horse on black top car). The also had floor mats with a running horse(yellow in black top car). The white cars were similar in design. All Feature cars also had a rear deck spoiler in place of the normal convertible luggage rack. Also of interest is that the Feature cars had the windshield frame painted to match the body color. A total of 1500 white and 1503 Chrome Yellow cars were built. A note of special interest, the feature cars authenticity can be verified by checking the metal body buck tag, which is stapled to the radiator support just behind the driver's headlight. The word "FEATURE" was stamped into the buck tag along with the last 6 digits of the VIN. Ford also used this procedure on Special Service Police Cars and Cobra's. The SSP cars usually have 2 buc tags with word "POLICE" or "SSP" and the Cobra's had "COBRA". In 1992 1/2 Ford built a Red/White version of this car which featured Red paint with white interior, top and wheels. A total of 2019 of the '92's were built.
These cars were the most expensive Mustangs built in 1993. The Chrome Yellow cars listed for $22221.00 when the Cobra's sported a sticker of $18500. plus options.
This has and will remain one of my favorite cars. The car was bone stock. The car was quite a looker. People always inquired if it was for sale. It was the slowest Mustang I have owned but just all around fun to drive. I think my wife misses it more than I do. I bought this car in 2005 while I looking for a '93 Cobra.
Due to many close calls with idiot drivers with no respect for other people's stuff, I decided to sell this car. I did not want to see a such a special car get trashed. The new owner lives in Griffin, GA. A friend of mine still sees the car from time to time.
