MORE track oriented modifications, most specifically the OPN or Oil Pump nut.
I made my own engine brace, using 4x4 lumber, some 1x4, and some angle braces.
Prepping the car for a lot of work
Since I was going to be removing the front subframe, and oil pan, I decided to weld in Bimmerworld's front subframe recinforcement tabs, new Vorshlag poly motor mounts, Vac Motorsports Oil Pan baffle kit, and Vac Motorsport oil pump shaft upgrade, also installed new oil pan gasket obviously.
This made all the work worth it, and wont be needed ever again hopefully.
Oil pan off
The oem Oil pump nut, thats prone to backing off, and causing ZERO oil pressure, thus BLOWN motor. Also shown is the stock sprocket, shaft, and gear taken out
New Vac Motorsports oil pan baffle kit installed. Oil starvation during extended high corner loads is also a problem on heavily tracked E36's. This should do nicely
Bimmerworld front subframe reinforcement tabs, with pic of new Vorshlag poly motor mounts installed, ready to be put back on the car
OEM oil pump shaft, with new Vac Motorsport oil pump shaft, and installed pics. Notice the longer bolt instead of just the nut in the Vac oil pump shaft. Reverse thread with red loctite and 20 ft/lbs torque should do wonders. No more 4 thread engagement.
Everything all buttoned back up, and the car ready to go to Gingerman racetrack in South Haven, Michigan (no on track pics unfortunately)
No on track pics of Gingerman, but I do have in car video
