Proven racing Heritage with the Datsun Fairlady

"Race Guru" Fil Gulfin already re-jetted the Solex 40mm twinside carburetors and tuned the engine for better performance. Throttle response is insane from 3,000 to 6,000 rpm!

Also bought an OGK RSN (Japan) race helmet. Required for intermediate and Expert classes.

Also reworked the air scoop underneath the radiator for better airflow and cooling effect on the radiators. Coated it also with QD enamel to prevent rust.

Also bought a set of racing HD (Japan made) brake pads for the front disc brakes. Operating temperature is from 0 to 500 degrees celsius, which is very flexible for street and track use. It an organic compound brake pad that's friendly on rotors. Can't wait to try them out. Hopefully, braking distance will greatly improve.

Had it installed at Speedmode for P300 and I also had the brake fluid flushed and replaced for P1000. They use a pneumatic device that sucks the brake fluid along with the dirt inside the brake pistons and lines. Pretty effective device for cleaning the brake system. I'm planning on having them service the brake system every year at Speedmode...very good service indeed!

Also bought 4-point seatbelts for added safety from the old 2-point belts installed on the roadster.

Fabrication and installation was by Speedmode. They had to drill through the body and bold the metal bracket directly on the chassis. They also welded a stainless steel rod underneath the bracket for extra rigidity. Clean and nice looking fabrication. Had to paint the rear shelf with QD enamel as well to protect from rust.

Major Maintenance Work List:

1. Replace Brake Master Cylinder

Unisyn tool for synchronizing the Mikuni twinside carburetors
Planned Major Rework & Maintenance for December, 2009:

1. Sort out brake system - brake pedal too soft and needs to be double pumped for brakes to engage
2. Balance twin Mikuni sidedraught carburetors with new Edelbrock Unisyn "A" 4025
3. Grease zerk fittings
4. Re-install racing seatbelts for perfect fit - currently too loose
5. Install custom-built aluminum anodized heatshield for Mikuni carburetors c/o Ichiban Motors
6. Remove distributor advance mechanism from left carburetor and cap fitting
7. Refurbish original gas cap with new gasket
8. Replace filler-neck gasket
9. Change oil - semi-synthetic 10W-40
10. Replace engine coolant
11. Return bumpers to Chrome Dazzler for rechroming
12. Tweak NGK spark plugs
13. Replace contact points (with gold-plated type)
14. Clean fuel filter
15. Clean fuse box
