This is just a quickie little tribute page for my first ride, a 1972 Gran Torino 4 door sedan. Click on my username to see my existing rides.
I bought this car for $100 when i was 17 from an old man whos lawn I used to cut. He was the first owner and kept it very well maintained. It wasnt in great shape by any means after 29 years but it ran and drove good enough for a kids first ride.
After I found my next car, an 89 Grand Marquis(also on Cardomain)
I sold it to a tow truck driver for $60 who wanted the 9" rear out of it for his hot rod. If I was smart, I would have parted it out, especially for the front clip which was flawless and VERY rare because they only made this particular front end for one model year. Doh!! I have no idea where she rests today but I bet that dude got his moneys worth out of it. Oh well. Live and learn I guess.
Onto the pics... more when I can find them:
I love that front end!
I detailed the engine compartment and painted the intake, exhaust manifold, valve covers, and everything else that was visible. I only did this for shits and giggles since it ran like crap by that time but I had fun.
This is an ass shot from after I put it sideways In a ditch! My friends and I were playing cat & mouse on a construction access road out in bumfuck egypt when i lost control through a mud puddle. The car actually sat there for 14 days because the dirt bridge going into the place had collapsed after a dump truck rolled off the edge sideways and fell into the muck. It even made the local news! I had to wait till they rebuilt the bridge 2 weeks later. My dad paid $20 to a guy operating a loader to pull it out. Whoops!
So now go check out my 2nd and 3rd vehicles, the 89 Marq and my current 90 Seville!
