The Engine

I have added a few pictures of the engine and engine bay. This was also taken with my cheapie mobile phone. I had'nt even washed the engine bay when I took these pictures out.

I have yet to restore the engine bay. It still has the stonechip finish which doesnt look very good. I will have to remove the engine and all other components to get this done. I intend spraying the engine bay with the same glossy red of the car.

This is what you call 40 year old British Muscle. 3.4 litres of Essex Power. Enough to give a small V8 a whipping.

The first Essex V6's were designed in the early 60's and South Africa was the last country to make these engines and were fitted on the Ford Sapphires of the Early 90's.

Very few people know of the potential of these engines. Even though they are 110 kw in standard form, I know of two guys that have beaten modifed 300 kw BMW M3's with their MK4 / Mk5 Cortinas. Both of them had the XR6 Interceptor setups which normally push out around 160 kw.
