8/03/08 - Currently in the prossess of smoking my Z taillights and side rear side markers and thought it would be nice to share the expericence and give confidence to others who would like to do it themselves.

Well first step is to take off the taillights and markers. Make sure you have all needed tools too including VHT NIGHT SHADES(the tint), AND A CLEAR COAT.

remove the 3 bolt covers on each tailight and remove the screws hiding in them (6 in total).

slowly and softly pull back and upwards and slowly wiggle the tailights until they come loose ( have patients they are little plastic clips that break easily.

remove the wire plugs, then remove the 2 screws that were hiding behind the tailights (one on each side) that are holding the bumper in place, than remove another two screws under the rear wheel well (again one on each side) these should be in plain site by looking under the wheel well holding the corner of the bumper on.

than wiggle and slide carefully the rear bumper off and remove the 4 screws (2 on each side) that are holding the side markers in place... and of course dissconnecting the wires.

tape the black plastic (pictured) ,grab a plastic squirt bottle with water and a piece of 600 or 800 grit sandpaper and start sanding away with everything wet so dust doesnt build up .. clean it off occasionally, its that simple just sand everything nice and even ,take your time do it on a day off and your results will look like this.. next step..

after sanding them and washing them spray them with the night shades.. no more than 3 coats or light will not show through.. be carefull because they will look red if you are doing them in the sunlight but they will be dark as night in the shade..

after getting the proper tint wait for them to dry and sand them again lightly with 1500 grit

wash and let dry and then spray clear coat..

lightly wet sand with 2000 grit

than grab a polisher with a buffing kit and waxes and polish those bad boys to a shine...(haven't bought a buffer yet)
