   5150-Foundation's 1968 AMC AMX

I bought this AMX new in 1968. Dash plaque number reads 000154. I was 22 at the time. Spent a lot of nights looking for Corvettes to race

In 1972, I built it to run in SCCA A-Production Classs. It's raced at Sears, Laguna, Thunder Hill.

The car sat in storage for over 20 years before I took it out and rebuilt it to run in the Vintage Series

Motor puts out a little over 400 hp. 500 lbs of torque makes it a little squirly on tight road courses.

Going down the long straight at Thunder Hill Raceway park passing the 150 mph mark.

5150-Foundation's 1968 AMC AMXHand painted eagle really stands out. It was done by a guy who ended up working in the art department for ILM!

5150-Foundation's 1968 AMC AMXBesides building the car, I did all the electrical and tin work. I can't paint worth shi* so that was farmed out. The paint job on this car is over 30 years old!

My last Vintage race was at Thunder Hill Raceway Park (owned and built by the SF Region of SCCA). Lots of good speed with plenty of safe runoff areas. I live about 20 minutes from Sears Point Raceway (now called Infinion). I have run a couple of events there. A rattling engine pulled me out of my last event; sounds like a rod bearing. New motor on the stand waiting for a little more cash flow to build it. I ran A-Sedan and GT-1 in a Camero, got my IMSA license in '82. Started back racing in '01 after a loooong absence.
