This page is over the last couple of years building the '88 Coupe.

Got a Cobra intake/70mm throttle body put on and buttoned up the Ramcharger fan/DC controller/polished overflow setup. Had to fab up a couple "extensions" to put the overflow where i wanted it.

A shot of the clearance of the fan and crank pulley...plenty of room with the 8 rib. Plus a shot of the 10 rib which still has good clearance!

With a REALLY safe tune in the PMS i took it to a semi local car cruise/show(1 hour round trip). Ran great, i saw 10psi with the stock Vortech pulleys through the PMS...my Autometer boost guage doesn't seem to be working? I also have a 10 rib setup i need to get on(2.95 blower and 8" Renegade crank pulleys). Haven't decided on installing both or just the crank pulley?? Hope to get on the dyno in the next couple of weeks to get more agressive with the tune....and possibly some track time! If these ranger axles will hold up,lol!!

Heres a shot of the 93 cobra style tails i put on...

Heres the new wheel setup. Centerline Telstars - 15x4(1.75 bs) up front with 165's and 15x10(6.5 bs) with 295/50's. Had to use 3/8" spacer up front to clear the PBR calipers and 1/4" spacer out back....which meant i needed to add some 3" wheel studs front/rear. Even with beating the inner wheel well with a BFH i needed to add the spacers to prevent tire rub. Then cut off the fender lip to keep the tire alive with the car being lowered. The rears stick out past the lip about 1/4" or so, which doesn't look to bad. Fronts sit just a hair inside.

While up on jackstands again, lol, i redid the exhaust to get it to hang tighter to the body. You can see in some pics below of the hangers i had to mockup since i'm using center outlet mufflers. With them also being center inlet, it was a little tricky getting them to fit. After adjusting the flowtubes around a few times i got them looking pretty good.

Up next was the pile of guages Jegs sent me. Also ordered the guage cage and tach pod....turned out pretty decent.

Next up for install was a Mark VIII fan. After moving the radiator forward about an inch at the bottom, i was still needing about 1/2" to keep from rubbing the crank pulley. So, instead of fighting that any longer i just went ahead and ordered up a Ramcharger fan. Had to do some trimming and fab up a couple of brackets. Then, the power steering pump decided to die and whine like crazy. So i got a reman from NAPA...looks better black, lol. Oh yeah, also put on the hood lifters from IST!

Supercharger is complete! I got the AFM Power Pipe in and threw on the AFM Big Pump along with a 255 intank. Then in went the new PMS, Mallory Hyfire 6 ignition box and coil, motorcraft 32C plugs gapped at .035...its almost ready to fire and head to the dyno as long as everything goes ok. Used a 93 Cobra water pump pulley and a 94+ V6 power steering pump pulley. The ps pump pulley is larger and pretty cheap at $18. Also can't forget the PA Performance premium alternator wiring kit(for the previously installed 130 amp alternator), really nice setup! Got a lot of guages coming, plus some new weather stripping for the doors...should be all installed in a week or so.

Mock up of the rear Telstars, 15x10 with a 6.5" bs. Need a set of spacers for the fronts yet.

I've also got a lot of little things buttoned up that i've put off for way to long. New parking brake setup is complete. Using Motorsport parking brake cables and new center adjuster cable. Handle was modified to get rid of the self adjuster also. The best of all...the Vortech is almost complete! Got the Ford 42# injectors and Kirban regulator installed. Here it is, big thumbs down to the stock engine,lol....

Hood, rear bumper and all moldings have been painted along with a front end alignment after the 5 lug swap. Also had the car detailed while in the paint shop...heres some updated pics!

I bought the car as an bone stock AOD roller coupe way back in February '06. Over the months came a 5spd swap, front/rear suspension upgrades, a mass air conversion using an '89 harness with an A9L pcm. Then picked up a complete stock engine, added some gaskets and fresh paint to the block then dumped it in. BBK 1 5/8 longtubes, off road h-pipe and a set of Bassani mufflers have made their way on also along with some 3.73's in the rear.

Some of the front suspension is installed...Steeda springs,QA1 struts(for lowered 94+ because of the use of 95 spindles), Steeda c/c plates, and Steeda's bumpsteer kit. Among other parts still laying around are the RaceCraft Inc. moly k member and A arms....hoping to get around to installing them this winter along with a QA1 coilover kit.

The rear consists of a set of JDI Performance weight jacker lowers with heim joints, TRZ double adjustable heim joint uppers and spherical bushings in the housing, Steeda springs, and a set of QA1 adjustable shocks. If i don't eventually go with a set of 10.5" R's out back i may swap out the ranger axles for some 94-95's for a wider track(only reason is for looks).

5 lug swap i added consists of using 95 spindles with 99 PBR calipers up front(along with Maximum Motorsport stainless lines) and ranger axles with 99 V6 rear disc stuff out back. Modified the rear adapter plates to work with the ranger axles, came out great! 99 V6 booster and master is installed. Had to bend a new line and use a new fitting as front one off the 99 master is smaller than the stock fitting. Master cylinder is removable with booster in place, must be a late 98 booster?? 3-2 port kit arrived and installed as well as the new adjustable proportioning valve.

Heres some pics with the new ride height, wheels, headlights, hood. Yes, it needs a serious alignment job after the 5 lug swap...rear needs lowered a little bit more as well.

Couple interior shots...lots of wiring involved in the 93 instrument cluster swap, everything works great! While i was at it, threw in the airbag wheel/column too. Plus, gray tweed front/rear seats from a 93. Look at the before picture when i got the car...yuck!

Heres the final stock naturaly aspirated setup. Some misc. odds and ends to clean up before the SQ trim gets installed.

NoSlo90's 1988 Ford Mustang

Some progress on getting the engine bay clutter cleaned up. Heres a before and after look so far. Longblock is finally in! Don't mind the valve covers, they'll be cleaned up...haven't got around to that yet.
