1988 5.0 Coupe

Update 5/20 Turbo is in and tuned!!
I've had the B&G Custom 70mm turbo kit installed for a few months now, pretty nice fitting kit! On 5/16 headed to Anderson Ford to get some tuning on the dyno. With only 11psi. it put down 525rwhp 521rwtq! More power was waiting to be unleashed...but we decided to stop there to keep stock block in one piece since i was planning on getting some 1/8 mile hits the next day. Bunch of locals got together and headed over to Coles County Dragway in Charleston,IL. for a shootout. First pass i surpassed my goal of at least running in the 6.9x range....6.88 @ 100mph with a 1.48 60'. After a couple more time trial passes which slowed due to spinning they sprayed the track for eliminations. That helped! Next pass was 1.42 60' 6.77 @ only 92mph as i was HARD on the brakes for fear of breaking out...which i did anyways, lol. Wished i'd have stayed in it to see what it could have done. One last pass in the local car shootout netted a 1.41 60' 6.75 @ 100mph....lifted this pass due to the exhaust coming out of the clamp and dragging the track. Can't wait to get some 1/4 mile hits in as theres more left in it...i was lifting every shift. Also sold the bullits and picked up some SC Replica wheels...17x9's up front with Nitto 255/40 and deep dish 17x10's out back with 315/35 M/T ET Street Radials. Pics to come soon....
Back in October '08 with the Vortech supercharger....got tuned, got the stiff sidewall 26x10's MT's mounted on the Telstars, welded in the Team Z anti-rollbar and hit the semi local 1/8 mile track for some test hits before i hit the 1/4 mile. Decent outing, had some problems tho. Clutch did not like to be revved over 6000rpm...clutch pedal would suck to the floor, and couldn't find 4th gear, lol. Best out of 3 passes was 7.10 @ only 95mph with a 1.50 60'. Best 60' was 1.48. Came close to my goal of running in the 6.9x range. Couple weeks later went to the TnT in Morocco,IN. 1/4 track with a great turnout...but that was about it on my end. First and only pass, pushed out the headgasket.
Little list of additional updates that were made during the fall. A set of bullits were added(center caps have since been replaced with the running pony's)... 17x10.5's out back with 315 Sumitomo's, 99 cobra leather front seats, had the stock rears recovered to match the fronts, and a maximum motorsport roll bar. Also added, was an AFM Mr. Freeze, Redline Goods matching shifter boot and parking brake boot, new black headliner, new black sunvisors, recovered the package tray in black carpet and a few more interior changes.

Finally got the Racecraft INC. chrome moly K member and A arms installed, along with a QA1 coil over conversion with 130lb. springs. Plus, a freshly rebuilt 302 with a Holley intake, Accufab 70mm tb, out of the box Twisted Wedge heads with AFM Hi-Rev springs, PRW 1.6 rockers, Trickflow pushrods, and an AFM B-31HR cam. Should be fun!!! But that wasn't all...threw in a Fidanza aluminum flywheel, APW 650hp clutch, Quicktime SFI bellhousing, Astro Performance A-5(650hp)T-5, Motorsport aluminum driveshaft, and a Steeda firewall adjuster with quadrant.

So, now the $$ was spent... i stripped the chassis down to weld up the torque boxes, install upper/lower torque box kits, weld in some through the floor subframe connectors and cover it all with POR-15.

Heres getting the Wolfe Racecraft through the floor subframes cut in and welded up.

Wolfe connectors and a shot of the carpet, console, etc removed
