This is my 1989 Porsche 944 S2. I found it on eBay a few years back. I live in Tucson, AZ and the car was in Phoenix, AZ so I drove up to look at it. I told the seller I would take it if he made a few mechanical repairs. He agreed and I went back to Tucson. One week later, I took a bus to Phoenix and drove it back. On the drive to tucson I took it up to 100 MPH. It felt great!
After putting on some good tires, new front rotors, brake pads, changing the oil and filter, and checking all mechanical parts, I took it back on I-10 and ran it up to 120 MPH. I couldn't stay there long, cops - you know, But it ran hot, straight, and true and there was still throttle left.
Having gotten that out of my system, I took it home and subjected it to a thorough washing and detailing. I then set about to fix all the minor problems like replacing the fan temp sensor (the fans would not shut off and I had to disconnect the battery every time I shut it down).
I have had only one problem since then. The A/C relay became intermittent so I had to pull it out and clean the connections.
I drive it every day and never tire of the great feeling I get doing so.
Here is a picture of my Porsche with my other project car. It is a completely restored 1955 Chevy Bel Air. This car was the cover car of the September 2005 issue of Classic Chevy World magazine. I did all of the work on this car, including body work and paint. To learn more about that car, check it out at:
