THE BUILDING OF THE BOX
Empty trunk and the beginning of placement. The black and blue box is one that I built last summer for my ID Max and to match the Jeep. Since I nearly died last Summer, nothing ever really got installed. So I've ordered all of the electronics that I need, and the building of the box has begun. I'm going to keep it pretty simple for a couple of reasons. First, I want it to be able to be hidden under a dust cover when I have the top off. Second, I want it all to be easy to clean and take out after I go mudding.
A view from the front passenger side, plus checking to see if the amp will fit. It's an old PPI Art 600.2 that got a paint job at one point. I plan to sand it down to plain aluminum, flip it over and do some kind of plexi over it. I may also build a shelf to raise it up to the top of the box some.
The first shots of the assembly. Pretty sweet work table, eh?
Dark pictures. Another trial in the Jeep soon and I'll get better pictures.
So, I'm headed toward a "dry-run." Before I Rhinoline everything I'm going to hook it all up and makes sure evreything works as it should. I already ran some power wire but need to get bhind the dash for the signal wires and remote power.
Eventually this will be mounted to the back area of my jeep, where the rear seat is. I've worked with fiberglassing and bondo, etc only a little bit before. It's not totally my thing. I plan to cover the inside and outside with RhinoLiner, plus throw a secure top on it. We'll see how it works out.
