olds68's 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado1968 Oldsmobile Toronado for sale, less than 30(1968 Toros) known with the W-34 Option - the Holy Grail of Toronados. For sale at $5,500 firm.

Please see page 2 for Oldsmobile parts for sale. 15x7 olds rim (jj code), and bumper weather strip for 1977-78 Detla 88.
The green 1970 Toronado hood is for sale at $85. Also have 4 Olds 15x6 rims -  all steel, for $100.

A link about 1968 Olds Toronados:

This 1968 Toronado rolled off the assembly line on May 4, 1968.
VIN #394878M622943. It was built at Plant #2 in Lansing, MI . When this car was brand new it was brown (Cimmon Bronze), black interior, black steel wheels with just center caps(no full size hupcaps). From what I ws told it was sold new at an Olds dealership in Northern  VA.
Somtime during the 1990s, it was painted blue and its way to North Carloia -the Tar Heel State.
A fellow from Durham, NC had it from 1993-1994, had the front end rebuilt and changed the oil every 3,000.
I heard about this car back in July of 1994, by letter(yes folks a typed letter), from a friend in Dansville, Va. The car was in  Durham, NC area from 1993ish to August of 1994.

I made a few phone calls to the owner and by August 24, 1994 (that was on a Wednesday), the blue Rocket was dropped off to my Dad's automotive air condtion shop, Auto/Air INC, in South Portland, Maine.
From what I was told the mileage on this car is orignal,88,000. Currently the mileage is 88,411.
Options: W-34 ( mega under-rated 400 gross horsepower with 500 ftlbs. torque. Ture gross horsepower is about 425 -430.), disc brakes, AM/FM Wonderbar radio,Comforton A/C, cruise control, power door lockes (super rare)and power windows to name a few.
Options it DOES NOT have: vinal roof (comman on 68 Toros), no power seats(just like my red one).
Improvements I had done on the Olds back in 1995, was brass freeze out plugs , new brakes(everything), and having the timing gear and chain to a steel unit(I requesting a double roller unit). The orignal timing gear and chain looked like a table saw blade - no teeth and from 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch of slop of the chain (between the teeth and cogs of the gears). Here is the weird thing (before the timing gear and chain were replaced).
IT NEVER JUMPED THE TIMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way the 1968-69 W-34 Tronado 455 motors were the same units used in the 1968-69 Hurst/Olds with a/c.  In the H/O cars the 455 were red and had D heads(not C heads like 1967-69 Toronados).

This Toronado got wrecked on March 9, 2003(on my 33rd birthday of course). The 60x80 building that the Toro was in, fell on it, as well as 25-30 classic Oldsmobiles.
Out of 26,454 1968 Toronados made, only 111 had the W-34 option. The W-34 option was offered from 1968-1970.

Keep in mind, folks, this car has a rotted rear frame and the VIN# was hanging by a thread, after teh accident.  This is a project car to make a 1968 W-34 clone (ie you will need another car to do this)

How many W-34 Toronados?  1968: 111   1969: ?????  1970(also known as GTs): 5,341

All W-34s have a OM transmission code, other Toronados(1966-78) have a transmission code OJ.
1968 W-34 was the only year for the ram-air,and left-hand raditor switch( if the engine temp got too hot, the front grilles would go up). This car does not have that switch.
Please note the last two pictures on this page.

The photo of my silver 68 Toronado(run-of-the-mill 375 hp job, inner fender only) does not have a cut-out(inner left fender) for the ram-air.

The last photos is of two 1968 Toronado air cleaners, the unit on bottom is for a W-34(note wider mouth at the end) and the one on top goes to a 375 hp job( 99.94% 1968 Toronados have this style air cleaner).

Please note 1969 W-34 and 1970 GT Toronados DID NOT HAVE RAM-AIR, and did not this wide mouth air-cleaner(and the left hand side radtior switch as well).

The W-34 option for 1968 cost $210.64, this same option for the 1969 and 1970 model Toronados, the cost was under $50. Go figure.
This car is for sale for $5,500 firm, perfect for someone wanting to build a 1968 W-34 Toronado clone.

The reason for selling this Olds parts car, for an attempt, to buy my Dad's old 1963 Olds Starfire back (see profile of the Starfire).

Two 1968 Toronado air cleaners.   The unit of the top, 26,343 (375hp jobs) 68 Toronado had this air cleaner.  The Unit of the bottom, only 111 - 1968 W-34 Toronados has this "wide mouth".

interesting tornado's.were those fwd.or was that the ford torino.Ithink the tornado was olds answer to the riv. Many similarities.Or buicks answer to tornado.Does your 68 have 3 backseat ashtrays, with 3 lighters.1 ash and light on each side, and an ash and light in the middle.A double tray and light up front as well. And why no cup holders?Like the shirt. My ollady surprised myself with one with my riv on it.I think she's gonna be a keeper.
